Pen Pen TriIcelon and Buggy Heat, the US title is TNN Motorsports Hardcore Heat. Handling is a bit iffy at first but once you get to grips with it it's a solid racer. And don't forget Spawn: In The Demons Hand, top run and gun fun
I've heard a bunch of people say Speed Devils is good,, but I never understood why. I thought the graphics were grainy and worse than the majority of other DC racers, the framerate isn't good, and the car handling isn't good either. Although I am basing this off the demo on my webbrowser disc Now did anyone ever play Pod Speedzone??
I have a Demo for Pod Speed Zone I don't recall ever really liking it though I also have a demo for some Action RPG called Silver which seems rather bland I'm wondering the same thing he keeps citing well known Dreamcast games.
I agree I can think of a few. Record of lodoss war, Stupid invaders, Evil twin, Super magnetic neo, Silent scope, legacy of Kain. I'm quite fond of Looney Tunes Space race too. Those are some of the ones which come to mind without turning around and looking at my collection Also, carrier is total shite, got bored after about half an hour of playing and an hour of wandering round trying to work out what the hell was going on.
Did you play the PAL version? Never noticed bad framerate. I do remember the novel approach to racing though.
I only have a demo of Speed Devils as well....it is ass. Super Runabout that is probably the most fun Demo in the history of Demos for anything. That's probably a game I should be checking out
Is Silver really bad? I know its mostly pre rendered graphics, but they looked alright to me. The voice acting sounded good, and the concept of realtime battles instead of turn based ones is something I would prefer. Is the story really bland? This is on my list of games to pickup that I haven't tried yet. I thought Evolution 2 was pretty overrated. The graphics and characters look nice, but it seems like 95% of the game is simply crawling around dungeons fighting turn based battles. Its like an entire game based on grinding!
Against popular perception, I think Evil Dead is quite fun, too. Of course it's repetitive as hell and plays kind of bland, but it's entertaining every once in a while if you like Evil Dead 1 and 2. Sword of the Berserk deserves a recommendation, too - very long narrative parts, but the hack'n slay elements are fun to say the least.
When I think of dreamcast one of the first games I think of is Space Channel 5. I wish the sequel came out for DC in the states (the ps2 version did) so we're stuck with the import. I believe this is a forgotten game now, and why Sega didn't revive it during the Guitar Hero dance game craze is beyond me.
Errr, it wasn't made by Acclaim. The creators were touted as being SEGA racing game fans, and it shows. The game could even have looked better if they didn't develop the PS1 version alongside! I like the music too tbh... Anyone remembers 4 Wheel Thunder? Midway bought this game from French developer Kalisto to be the second console release in their Thunder series, making this equally good, if not better than Hydro Thunder! (and FAR better than their own Off-Road Thunder game) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zctULbUq7Q&feature=related This game shows no slowdown whatsoever, making it one of the best arcade-racers on the DC. Make sure to insert your rumble packs, as this feature is insanely adrenaline inducing
