Head Hunter and Fur Fighters. Both of which did get released on the PS2 at some point, but I don't care 'cos they're both very good DC games. They most probably look better on Dreamcast running through a VGA box too.
Not exactly sure what counts as "Forgotten" DC games... but hopefully you remember some stuff like: Twinkle Star Sprites (nice port anyway and as fun as ever) Seventh Cross Evolution Sega Swirl Tech Romancer Zombie's Revenge Sega Bass Fishing/Get Bass Rayman 2 Mars Matrix Sword of the Berserk Grandia II (of course) Elemental Gimmick Gear Virtua Tennis Seaman Chu Chu Rocket etc., etc. Not to mention the goodies mentioned in the thread (probably duplicated a few too)--in fact, Typing of the Dead is worth another mention for sure Of course, whether you actually liked/will like some of those games... well I enjoyed the majority of them anyway, at least. I don't have many friends who loved the DC so I don't really know what's "forgotten" and not (party foul)
Zombies Revenge gets a lot of bad press but it's still a fun game and I still play Get Bass now, in fact my DC rod is sitting right next to my Xbox 360 arcade stick. Has anyone mentioned Dynamite Deka yet?
and has the most obscure reference to Tenchi Muyo ever. I forget which ending it is though Also I just realized today that the annoucer in Tech Romancer is the exact same guy as Street Fighter Alpha 3
Jin and Bloodia are hidden so it makes some sense. I was playing it yesterday it's really a much more accessible Capcomized Virtual on. No matter which VO it is I cannot for the life of me get things rolling
Playing VOOT is so weird. You can't play it like it's armored core or gundam or any other robot game. Basically, you have to rely on the auto targeting aspects of the controls, such as automatically turning and facing your opponent when you jump, or when you shoot while strafing, rather than actually aiming and pointing at things yourself. This changes the gameplay significantly imo. Instead of trying to aim at your opponent, or charge your opponent, the focus instead is on dodging the opponents attacks, and in so doing, shooting off some of your own. It's necessarily much more defensive and roundabout playing - but then again, I don't have the twin sticks so maybe the gameplay is completely different when not confined to the DC controller.
Yeah maybe this should be it's own thread but...What the hell genre is Virtual on anyway? It's a fighting game but doesn't play like one, it has shooter elements it's argh just thinking makes my brain hurt.
I'm glad to see someone mentioned Elemental Gimmick Gear and Sword of the Berserk: Gut's Rage. Especially Berserk, I loved that game. My friends and I would play is constantly, taking turns with the controller. We were really into the anime at the time too so that probably helped.
