It was bound to happen: the lack of new games and at almost a year since launch, the hype surrounding the Wii is over. From gizmodo: Four weeks ago Nintendo was moving around 110,000/week. Since, that number has steadily declined to just over 60,000. While it's still number two (behind the DS, I might add), now that inventory has been replenished in Japan, it's clear that the Wii is not a magical superproduct poised to break all laws of physics/logic and sell to infinity. The numbers: DSL: 135,729 Wii: 61,498 PSP: 33,886 PS3: 24,289 PS2: 12,784 Xbox360: 2,691 GBM: 413 GBASP: 228 DS: 75 GC: 68 GBA: 0
Thrashing the life out of the 360 and humping the PS3 I might add, they must be shitting themselves chez Nintendo... I suspect the Wii is going to be a very serious player in the pre-Christmas rush, so don't give up just yet! For one, I am wanting a Wii for the wife as she is keen to get one, so add me to that list
Its still selling 35000 more units than the Ps3. And Why is the 360 doing so poorly? I agree, dont underestimate the wii. Just because they all own a wii doesnt mean its doing poorly.
The DS is what everyone in Japan wants right now. I reckon now everywhere you look in Japan there will be a person with a DS and with it being cheap you can't blame them.
Unless you live in the UK where it rains 24 7 :banghead: I must admit its been good weather this week.
Well, it's probably actually 0.5 or something so they just rounded it to 0. Also I believe that's referring to the original GameBoy Advance (the wide one), and do they even make those anymore?
Yeah, Wii game releases are pretty slow at the moment in Japan but there are a few great looking titles coming out soon. I was looking through Famitsu yesterday and spotted 3 Wii games I'll buy. One being a mini helicopter sim type game (Looks like a sort of Toy Commander from the Dreamcast) and the other was an action game done in what looks like a type of cellshaded style. If you don't know what there games are I'll take a look in the mag again today for the names. Yakumo
Nice try, even cynics here have faith. Well, I personally sort of expected a lull after a while but I just didn't know when. I mean, I was surprised that sales didn't taper off at the start of Spring and I'm blown away that they still stay up there. Slumps are bound to happen, but they will shoot right up when the big releases come out during this holiday season. Also, Wii Fit. While not all of us may dig it, the point is that it's going to sellsellsell. Japan + quirky ideas (WHAT THE SHIT? EXERCISAN GAMES?) = massive sales. The "hype" is set to "resurge."
