Dead Rising is one of the worst games I've played this gen and a perfect example of how to design a game so that everything about it is rage-inducing garbage.
I wasnt a fan of 2 - nothing had really changed. But when the first one came out (which was pretty close to launch?) - it was quite impressive IMO. I remember being impressed with the helicopter fly over at the start!
After the overhype of Bioshock Infinite I'm weary of high scores across the board. However even the average reviews from Polygon and Gamespot make the game sound amazing. I was going to pass on it after being disappointed by Uncharted 3 but this game I may have to get.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SGnmxxEmTok It pretty sad when Microsoft just paid $750.000 to Polygon to make bad reviews for Last of US. User got banned on Polygon site due to that he exposed information on thread. It not surprise this isn't the first time Microsoft has done this. Only logical reason is obvious Microsoft is in desperation mode, cause it knows it cannot compete in the gaming sector with this generation.
Halo2 was what made me finally stop trusting reviews for big-budget games. I really liked NaughtyDog during the PS1/PS2 era (except Jak X, I've never played any racer that cheated as bad as that one), and Uncharted1 was fun and looked good, but Uncharted2 just completely destroyed my faith in their commitment to gameplay (narrative was great, scenario design and art was fantastic, but when you can shoot an enemy point blank in the face and they don't die that just ruins it as anything but an interactive movie for me). Maybe "The Last of Us" really is a masterpiece, but I'll reserve judgement until picking it up at $20 or less in a few months.
Uncharted 1 is mediocre by today's standards. Big waves of annoying enemies? Annoyingly assholish protagonists? Even the collision detection isn't much to write home about. That said I'm interested in TLoU simply because it doesn't have that Drake bastard.
It is me or there a Sony hardcore fanboys here. The game might be good but for me is another generic post apocalyptic world base game, this time with mushrooms guys instead of zombies. Uncharted is a nice game but quickly forgotten that will happen to this one too. I'm still waiting for games like Mario 64 and zelda ocarina of time, that even a decade after people still talk and remember them like yesterday, or like Shenmue too. The multiplayer for me is an extra and not the game, I want to know the re playability that the game have, how much I want to come back and play the story again. I have a PS3 and I'm still waiting for games as good as the PS1 era.
Last of Us seems to be pretty good, but it might not be Naughty Dog's greatest masterpiece. Crash Bandicoot was one of my favorite games of all time.
As good as any Uncharted game, since it's the same engine, same controls, same everything but you don't climb that much.
I've always felt that Crash Bandicoot 2 was the best of the series. It improved upon the first game in pretty much every way. Warped was also a great game, but I feel like 2 was a more pure version of the concept. All 3 of the original PSX games were great, and none of the subsequent non-Naughty Dog iterations even came close.
I couldn't agree more, as soon as they shipped the license off to other companies, the games became horrible. although I might add that I enjoyed CTR a whole lot as a kid as well
I tend to agree the Demo was not my cup of tea at all, AT ALL and when Drake spoke all I could hear was Deadpool.
I haven't played the first game, but Uncharted 2 is awesome. At least, it seemed awesome when I played it a few years ago. I would suggest starting with 2 if you're new to the series. I've yet to play 3, though I've heard good things.
You really should play Uncharted 1 first which I did back in 2007, I love it but I haven't played Uncharted 3 or either Last of Us yet.
