They used to have N64s in the dentist office I went to as a kid. They would let kids play on the N64s (there were like 4 of them, I think) while they were waiting to see the dentist or to have their teeth cleaned or whatever.

My local Burger King had kiosks with Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, & Nintendo up until around 2003. Had great games like Ristar, Sonic 2, Vectorman, Gunstar heroes, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Battletoads... It was really weird. Was also the first time I played / heard of Ristar.

Only the greasiest of controllers resided there.

I was still taken when you could do it in Breakdown, and that was released some 5 years later. Eating rations and hamburgers also got me.

Xbox 360 at a dentist's office. They just had Lego Indiana Jones, but that was much better than the usual "stuck on daytime talk TV" setup you get in most types of medical waiting rooms

    Gamecube at McDonalds

Back in 2001, you could apparently rent out PT Cruisers that came with a built-in N64

All the local McDonalds were remodeled in the last 5 years, they don't have play room anymore. I wonder what they did with the old game consoles? Time to dig a local landfill and see if I can find a trashed N64 that I can resell for $1,000+ like those trashed ET carts. :D

There is only 1 place I know of that still have game kiosk, a doctor office in south part of Lapeer, MI has Genesis kiosk with those 10-in-1 selector that you used to see in retail store.

Unfortunately it's now about 1 bajillionty bajillion dollars. After the Kickstarter announcement, demand skyrocketed, and Sega hasn't made a peep about a rerelease.

I remember visiting Dinan (France) on holiday back in '99. I was looking for some retro gear. Got pointed in the direction of a laundrette. Turns out they were selling a Saturn system and games, they were seated in a glass case under the counter.

On holiday in Luxemburg (2006), a store in Diekirch selling primarily sewing machines had some early PC CD DOS/Win '95 games on a shelf.

They also have a Gameboy, among other things, at Pop Century. Having been there twice in the past couple of years.

At this point it's supply and demand (admittedly, most all old games are). Yeah it sold about a million copies, but gaming has grown so much more popular that nowadays, a million for a big game is a failure (I think Tomb Raider sold 2 million and Square called it a failure). So with fewer copies (not counting tossed ones, and ones that are off the market because Dreamcast collectors are keeping them and Shenmue fans won't sell their old ones) available, and more people interested (the Kickstarter piqued the interest of people who had never heard of either game, that's what a huge platform to kick off does) tons of people want copies of the game and Dreamcasts to play it on.

a million is a failure how sad at 60.00 a piece thats like 60 million @.@ i know RE revs 2 sold a million but i think it was considered good,
i see with shenmue its also a rarity thing. when the kick starter for 3 was happening i considered getting it but instead went with Yooka Layle because i love banjo kazooie. then i also said it wouldnt make sense for me to get 3 without playing the other 2 lol. i would love to play them but hardly know anyone with a DC anymore.

Luckily I've had a DC since 03, and got 1 and 2 then. I think I got 2 new for like $5 or $10 at some Walmart sale for Christmas.

So, I had a job when I was 16. Worked at a sign making company. I was a Screen Cleaner. Nothing fancy or anything. Out the back, there was a large skip. One day, I chucked an old put of chemical into the skip and noticed a NES console box. It had R.O.B on it. I had a friggin panic attack lol. I grabbed the box and opened it. Inside was some polystyrene and one of R.O.B's legs. It was the Gyromite console bundle. Nothing else in the box at all. So, I frantically ran through the whole building shouting "WHO THREW NES IN BIN!? WHO THREW NES IN BIN!!?" lol.

A guy who works there owned up and said that he was clearing out is loft and found that box and decided to chuck it, along with a bunch of other junk. So I asked him if he has the rest of it, and he said he didn't know, but said he'd find out and let me know. Two days later, he brings in a box, with like, 10 games, a nes, 2 controllers, a arcade controller and the rest of R.O.B! I was like, "how much you want for it?!" and he said.. ".. I dunno, £20?". Gave him thirty, shook his hand and called him a hero lol. The box is a little tatty around the edges, but its all complete and R.O.B is in perfect condition. Was well happy.

I can remember seeing a N64 kiosk in a Mcdonald's once and another N64 at a hotel in Vermont. At my library once they had a display case that had NES through Gamecube along with other Nintendo related items.

Earlier this year I went with my dad to a auto part swap in Massachusetts and there was a game gear on one of the tables. Grabbed it for 20$ and it had sonic 2 in it. It still works except it needs to plugged in, the screen doesn't work, and it has to be plugged into an external speaker to hear the sound.

Last year my dad found a functioning xbox at the dump and gave it to me.
