Oh WOW, PS3 Slim-it-Again, I like my hacked barely post launch unit, sounds like a Boeing 747 but still no YLOD.
LikSang hasn't been forgotten here. It is kinda hard to do so when I've been using their mug several times a day for the last decade! With that said I think Sony definitely took things too far when they shut them down, but it didn't stop me from getting a PS3 Slim in 2010. I'm actually quite tempted by the New PS3 slim now that I know Shinobi and Virtua Fighter 4 are on the PlayStation Network Store, but now that I have a PS2 Slim with Shinobi anyway it is probably an expensive and pointless exercise.
Curious about the price of the 12GB. Don't like the design of it, but i think top loading system is way better than any slot loading mechanism. I just saw an unboxing of a new unit. It looks ugly and cheap to me. I love my PS3 Slim - it's smaller than the original PS3, and it has a matte finish rather than the glossy surface of the original (which easily gets stained and scratched). I like top-loading machines, but I don't like how this one slides to the side with a spring. Seems like something that would be very easy to break, and it doesn't look too solidly built. The PS3 Slim is a solid piece of machinery - well built, very quiet, reliable (no problems after using it for 3 years), and it even has a built-in power supply, unlike the 360 with its bulky external PSU. It seems a little weird to be releasing a new PS3 model when everyone knows the Next Gen is just around the corner. Certainly isn't a good enough excuse for me to upgrade - it's not even that much smaller than the Slim. I'd expect a PS2 Slim-sized console at this point. Whatever.
I bought 3 games for mine since launch and sold it at the start of this year, Take it how you like but the way they've approached supporting the system is a pale comparison to what they did with the PS2 and PS1. Its been out for almost 7 years now and has an appauling games library imho. For a 'big' system it has a rediculously small amount of exclusives, Not trolling just an observation.
For me ALL systems have an appalling library. Nothing like the PSX, PS2, Snes/Genesis... there are only few good games that doesn't enter in the "First/Third Person Shooter" category.
looks like a cheapo digital freeview set top box, although compared to the original ps3 its tiny haha, my bother recently got a big 60gb ps3, to be honnest the system doesnt interest me much theres nothing that jumps out n says "play me" it kind of stumbles out and mumbles "meh" edit: agree with AleffCorrea, im playing through Area 51 for Ps2 at the min, i overlooked the Ps2 completely as i was more into PC gaming at the time.
Painful to watch what happens to the PS3. In my - another freak from Sony. The same thing they did with the PS2 ... What a passion to spoil a good thing.:livid:
Can't watch any of the videos since I'm at work. For those who have, do you know the answers to: 1) Is the HDD still accessible/removable? 2) I read a comment that the door for the disc drive slides off the side, instead of hinging up. True?
Not sure about 1, but 2 is definitely true. It's spring-loaded, so it sort of springs to the side - kinda like the phone in the Matrix.
IGN UK have got their hands on one and posted an unboxing video. The slide loading mechanism is absolutely terrible. Also, I couldn't immediately see any external access to the HDD.
It goes the other way. The drive is on the right, and the cover slides to the left, on top of the rest of the console.
Am I the only one who thinks this looks much better than the Slim model ? In fact, I kinda like the spring-loading, it looks cool. It might wear rather easily though
I agree. Why they even bothered making something like that, instead of a simply push to open top loader?! Anything like the TurboDuo would be just fine. Sony is totally lost. I'm just glad i got the first Slim model.
