Thought I was the only one. I teach that story to whichever young geek asks me why I don't have a PS3.
I don't think people hate the PS3 or any other console. Specially when the case is M$ vs. $ony. Some people simply don't like this or that company because of what they do. I have the PS3, mostly because the games i like happen to be on it. Do i like Sony? Hell no. Same is valid for EA, Capcom, Codemasters,... People have their own strong opinions around here, it's not "fanboyism" like any other place.
Although I don't like the new slim model, I do like the fact that it's not slot-loading (gotta hate those things!).
I love them (despite not being able to play PSOne imports by Disc Swap in them -- damn you, let me play my Bomberman!)
Hmm wonder how much the 12GB model will cost (hopefully it'll be under $100 considering the major lack of space), if it's not too much I might pick one up and just swap the HD later. Edit: Looks like I spoke too soon turns out sony isn't going to release the 12GB model in the U.S. ... Probably less, just like the 4GB Xbox, but certainly NOT under $100. IIRC there is a SATA port but no mounting brackets in the 12GB model. I've worked out a deal with a PS3 lacking friend- he goes out and buys new PS3, I trade him my slim for it.
And that confuses me how can a company charge over $100 for a system that's so lacking? What kind of deal is that cause i'm not seeing the point in doing that.
Why would they charge more? Because it's Sony, and less than $100 for a game system, dubbed "The ultimate in home entertainment" by them would NEVER go for less. Why would they? There's still cash left in the market to milk from kids that are growing out of their leapfrogs. The PS2 still sells for $99 from them. Selling a PS3 for less? Outrageous and 100% improbable. Think more in the $180 range. EDIT- Wow, $269. Atta boy Sony, grab 'em right where it hurts- the wallets. I also want a new slim for modding. Less heat, small footprint, less power consumption. It's asking to be put inside a laptop shell.
I want a white model with a White Vita. tell people it's a Wii U and see if anybody can tell the difference.
