The ONE UK term that drives me nuts

    You just mean anyone who's not a Caucasian, as opposed to just meaning anyone who is not ethnically Scottish? Since they technically wouldn't be a "proper" either, or at least no more so than the non-Caucasian. Sure, they would be able to blend in with a crowd of the "true" people much easier, but that's as far as it would go.

    I was trying to keep skin colour out of it as much as possible, hence my choice of words and the use of quotation marks. I just didn't want to provoke anything.

    But you get the gist of was I was ineloquently trying to say.

    I thought so hard about hating this that it actually could work. If I couldn't care less about something then it is something that never enters my mind, therfore I could care less if it was something that really bothered me.

    Confusing, I know, but both statements can work.

    Both only work if used correctly.

    Americans tend to say the latter when meaning the former.
