Hello guys, few hours ago I stumbled upon this console on my local marketplace. Apparently, this guy got it from someone who lives in Japan. It does look like the special edition (550 consoles), but it's not exactly the same. So can anyone help me? Do you think that this might be worth something?
Hello Kitty xbox is pretty rare seeing as only 500 of them were made. Would pick it up if it fits the budget.
Do you think that this is the real version? because it has few differences from apparently a real one.
There wasn't more than one design as far as the Internet knows. Hello Kitty Mission Rescue console wasn't even sold in Japan. So It COULD'VE been given away in a competition there or someone imported it, but I doubt it. Another speculation is, that design you see there could've been a prototype design. Like the Dead or Alive: Online console. Same with Atari console, the red ones which have been on the internet before rumours being one only made, is bullshit. @MoonTar and myself have made that assumption considering more than 2 have appeared on eBay. So most likely they're competition systems.. That's my guess. I wouldn't throw a whole lot of money on this or scramble for it. They both easily can be faked.
Thanks for reply brother, I really appreciate it. Guy wants 35 for each, or $65 for both. They both have mod chip for pirated games.
Or, its just a Hello Kitty case decal applied to a crystal Xbox, and as Borman said, for those prices grab it.
$65 for two rare xboxes sounds like a deal to me. Where I live, people still want $50+ for a used xbox with no hook ups.
Thank you guys, will probably be getting them soon. Just called a guy, he told me that it's a sticker on the HelloKitty one..
Like everyone has said just as far as two consoles go buy them just because they are cheap. As far as anything else one would have to check the dates on the bottom and compare with the real deals. Also, the official Hello Kitty console bundle was in Singapore and the Atari console was in Germany which both use 220v so someone must have changed the power supplies when modding them possibly. At least from my view these will be hard to prove as prototypes and wouldn't be worth a whole lot anyway. The Atari consoles were just custom airbrush consoles and the Hello Kitty console can be easily faked. As a collector I would want the official consoles instead but that is just my opinion. The dates on the bottom will tell the most.
Well you used dollars in your price and not quid or euros so I just assumed. Haha But yeah, buy and then check the dates on the bottom and then compare with what we know. The Atari console should be around 2004 and Hello Kitty around 2005. Just ballpark estimates though.
What exactly is 'Hello kitty'? Is it a cartoon, a range of school accessories, or what? I've heard of it, but no idea what it is (and yes, I could google it, but I thought I'd ask in this thread).
It's a brand valued at billions just like Barbie. But more focused in apparel and accessories than dolls (toys). Dates from 1975. n_n
Yes, and more. It's like Mickey in Japan except Sanrio is more open to putting the character(s) on stuff. You can get Hello Kitty EVERYTHING. Toys, school supplies, plushes, phone charms, water bottles, bookbags, feminine hygiene products, food, rice cookers, Dreamcasts, notebooks, etc.
Buy it. the Hello Kitty consoles are worth a pretty penny, and only 500 exist. Even if it's just a clear shell with a sticker, it's still worth it at that price.
