The USA will still take advantage of Iraq, just using different means for different purposes. The other bullshit with Iraq was the rush to get it democratic. Why impose democracy on them? Shouldn't they been able to choose their own government structure? Wouldn't they be better off socialist, especially as they have little infrastructure to reform and adapt to a new way of life? Even Albert Einstein himself has written many documents with the pros and cons for a socialist environment instead of the capitalist world we live in today ....
The problem is with democracy you have to vote for the lesser of 2 evils - atleast voting for a new government structure the voting would actually work and you get a system which would benefit all, not empty promises :smt030 Did anyone actually ask them what system they want though? I think not.
I know that USA will benefit from Iraq, or at least I hope because then the lives it took to get that was all wasted effort. We all know that the oil will bring Iraq back to a prosperous nation. But it also makes me want to cry that it had to take that many lives where there could've have been other options. One thing we can all agree on is that - "ALL politicians(and governments) are lying fucks" (Yakumo) - War is not/never the answer - Countries working together can solve problems. Like what is going on now between Europe and Iran trying to get them to stop pursuing nuclear arms development/production instead of USA being part of the diplomatic talks.
Really? Wish someone told the Allied Nations during WWII that all they needed to do was say: "Excuse us Mr Hitler, would you awefully mind not invading Poland and slaughtering Jewish and other non Aryan's?" Rather than waste the lives of millions of soldiers.
WEll ok. You know, I should take that statement back then. WW2 was the last war that was WORTH fighting. It did benefit all of humanity. Wars after that didn't have a proper cause. Wars like Vietnam, Korean war, and other wars in other countries.
The thing is, Tachi, WWII could have been avoided had leaders not been so hellbent on punishing Germany for WWI (and screwing over Japan, who had been a loyal ally in WWI.) If you snap a link in a causal chain, you can break the whole thing.
Hi AngelHedgie! Welcome to the board. I don't recognise your username, so I don't think you've properly been introduced. Why not head over to the new forum expressly for that purpose, and post in the introduce yourself thread? That way, we can all welcome you properly Just follow the format everyone has used that Assembler devised ;-)
Well, you can't say that WWII could have been prevented, becasue honestly we don't know what would have happened. After WWI, the conditions were right for the rise of Fascism or other totalitarian governments, not just in Germany, but also Italy, Spain, China, Russia, Greece, etc. So, if WWII had not happened, say that Winston Chruchill had managed to come to a lasting peace with Hitler, all you European members would be living in a Jew-free Neo-Aryan wonderland, speaking German. The Japanese government of the time was an extension of ancient Japanese fudalism, and not "facist" in the way that Germany or Italy was. But it did hold certain ideological constants with it's Axis allies (the notion of Racial superiority for instance,) and all you have to do is look at the Batan March to see how repressive they could be. Seemed to be an alliance of convience, for no doubt Hitler thought of them as slant-eyed barbarians and would have eventually turned on them as he did the Soviets. BTW, it is quite possible that my Great Grandfather died on the Bataan march, but really we don't know what happened to him. So, you could list WWII as an example of a "Just war," a war that is fought for the benifit to help suffering/oppressed peoples. You'll notice that since they haven't found any WMDs the war in Iraq is being played off on this angle ("The war to free the Iraqui people,") Too bad that's not what they told us in the begining. Anyway.... I think that the fact that Japan and Germany not only recovered from WWII as our closest allies, but also went on to become economic powerhouses shows that war is not the end of the world, but that former enemies can come together in the persuit of the two things that make life worth living: 1) Making oodles and oodles of cash and 2) Having tons of hot chicks all over the place. Two areas that both Japan and Germany excell in. Let's hope one day Iraq can be on that list.
Did you watch the State of the Union. Bush said So what the fuck were those elections in Iraq all about? While we're talking about war... does anyone else find it VERY stupid that it's legal to declare war on another country, kill thousands of innocents, but it is against the Geneva Convention (I think it's the Geneva Convention) to assasinate world leaders. That is just fucked up.
If it were up to me I'd just make our world leaders fight to the death inside of giant robot suits. Then the rest of us could like, bet on them, and sell popcorn and stuff.
Excuse me, but he was the one that issued the first personal attack. You should try reading some time, it really helps.
I just went back and re-read his posts in the locked thread, and I don't see him calling you personally an ass or posting dumb pictures. Moving on: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...latimes/wheretheressmokeitwouldntleadtofiring Civil liberties?
what if you smoked crack on your own time, or shot up heroin...do you think a company should have the right to fire you?
While I accept that tobacco is a drug, there's a huge legal and practical difference between smoking a cigarette and injecting heroin. The lifestyles each are associated with are on opposite ends of legality - I never heard of anyone stealing car radios to fund their tobacco addiction. More importantly, people have the right to smoke if they feel like it, and I think it's disgusting that an employer should have assume control over what their employees legally do in their own spare time.
Well, I guess you missed the part where he called me stupid, unintelligent, and said that I didn't have a brain of my own. Or, does it not count when someone is insulting a supporter of Bush? BTW, I didn't post that picture, and I had nothing to do with it.
It was just a picture, ALchy. You have been argumentative with me ever since the Dirge of Cerberus thread a while back. It also pisses some of you off, that I was AFM. It was/still is a fucking joke, not harrasment and insulting other members. God...
He never called you anything. Both you and Casual took it to the personal level. If you didn't like what he said about your country, you should have argued back and justified it. It was a direct insult on a particular member, don't try and pass it off as a joke as if that justifies it. Since we're on the topic of pictures, wasn't it you or Alien Workshop that got oh so offended when id-republix used the Mail "how can 59million be so dumb" headline as their avatar? Just a joke, but it went against your political beliefs so it wasn't cool. Hypocrisy. And you wonder why I get argumentative with you...
