I have no idea what you're talking about. Obamacare doesn't restrict who can be covered by insurance. It does exactly the opposite: it extends who can be covered by insurance.

I think you may have lost me somewhere: the Affordable Healthcare bill covers the following:

* Healthcare support for low-income families (i.e.: below the 400% poverty line gets subsidies towards healthcare)
* Insurance companies must take on people even if they have prior issues, and cannot drop them just because they get sick.
* Reducing the cost of medicines by allowing generic-brand medicine to be approved by the FDA
* Increasing the amount of money you can rebate on medicine (from 17.1% up to 23.1%)
* Attempting to reduce healthcare costs for retirees & people who can't afford current medical bills

The only possible downside I see in your position is the '3-month check-up for chronic illnesses' policy where they will review your medical issues every 3 months to see where you stand health-wise. Even the negative point surrounding savings accounts not allowing the purchase of non-prescription drugs doesn't apply to insulin. Obviously, I understand you know better on the matter being in the position you are, but personally I cannot clearly see what points on the 'Affordable Healthcare' bill are to your detriment.

I recall the Republicans made a big song and dance over what they claimed to be 'murder panels', but it was just 'headline-grabbing' nonsense to make the '3-month checkup' point sound really scary and, more importantly, deadly - when actually, it's a darn site better and more caring to your issues than what you currently have, where you get 'sentenced to death' if you're not financially viable to the business that pays your medical bills. I'd expect that, as a disabled person with a clearly chronic illness, you have relatively little to be concerned about in terms of panels as it'll be clear from both medical and physical tests you have issues, and it's mostly the people with 'invisible illnesses' such as minor mental issues or chronic fatigue that'll be most in trouble.

The Republicans hate 'Obamacare' not because it's to the detriment of the people, but more likely because - as many of them are high-level shareholders for the insurance and pharmaceutical companies most affected by the policy - they are scared it'll be them that will be out of pocket rather than being bankrolled by your sickness.

You do seem quite agitated over the issue, though, so obviously I've missed a crucial point here. You don't have to say exactly your conditions, but I'd like it if you could tell me what point on the 'Affordable Healthcare' policy is going to affect you the most, because obviously the media have glossed over it. I don't mean to intrude on your personal life, just interested; that's all.

 

It's gonna be an issue for me personally because I have type 1 diabetes, autism, and on disability. I've read the fine print on the Obama Care bill. On the outside it looks like it supports those with disability and retirees. Reality is the 3 month "overview checkup) is to determine if someone is costing more money than they bring into the US treasury. If so, Obama has set a group up to grant or deny health care. If some one is 75 or older it has been said the chances of them getting expensive medication or life saving surgery are slim to none. So my grandfather will be dead soon. His meds cost $2,000 + a month to the insurance. Then me. I need insulin to live. From my understanding, disability SSI is going down hill and Medicare with it. So if I don't get denied by the health board for "taking from the system" instead of "putting into the system" then the bankruptcy Medicare will most likely suffer will put the kibosh on my life. I can work at a job put no one gives a fuck about autism. They see me as a weirdo after 1 or 2 months and say "What the fuck dude?! GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!"

That's my problem with Obama. I don't give a fuck about the rest of his bullshit ideas since they won't kill me. This most likely will.

Side point: anyone care to explain why the US debt has quadrupled in size since 2008? Can't blame it on inflation since that has only doubled prices on shit in the most extreme cases.

If I'm wrong on this give me some hardcore proof. I've seen the bills myself. I've read through the hundreds of pages. This is my interpretation of it once you get past the lawyers' twisty words.

 

What section and line does it say in the real bill that you will be denied insurance if "someone is costing more money than they bring into the US treasury"?

The only reason the US debt went up so high because the "pass the buck" methodology of our past presidents finally caught up with us. Bush tax cuts were SUPPOSED to be suspended first thing in 2008, but they got extended instead and that is when things snowballed into what it is now. Then the healthcare bill added to that, too.

Oh well, regardless of who is president, the poor will still be poor and the rich will still be rich.

 

Even if we are no better or no worse off I'm just pleased seeing Karl Rove flip his wig and to see what new crazy crap the conservatives will dream up for Obama to do/have done.

Haven't seen any FEMA/UN trucks coming to round us up to be stuck into camps for forced conversion to Islam. Nor have I seen this "New World Order" take hold I was promised would happen if Obama was reelected. Maybe I'll have to wait until he is sworn in?

I'm also hoping that Romney's loss will cause the Republican party to reevaluate themselves and maybe stop being such finger pointing assholes. Stop a bill in the house from going to senate? Obama's fault. Something good happens? WE DID IT NOT HIM! The whole birth certificate "controversy" is racism as far as I'm concerned (never had this problem before and never before have we had a president with skin darker than a beige envelope. Sure coincidences happen but the Tea Party isn't the brightest bunch).

Romney's positions before the election almost made him palatable as a candidate but once he got momentum it was clear he would change position to suit whatever would get him into the White House even if it meant burning the flag on the steps of congress and pissing it out. The only thing I don't like more than a neo-Con (or the equivalent ultra left winger) is a puppet. Someone has their hand so far up Romney's ass that they're literally playing tonsil hockey.

 

Honestly it doesn't matter who wins. I've always seen this being about when we want to collapse not if we want to collapse. As far as running a budget Romney would hands down be better but I wouldn't say that he would solve the problem just prolong it. And don't even start with the whole "The rich need to pitch in more take the strain off the middle class and we'll be able to solve our budget problems" because it's not going to happen. The nice thing is that when it comes down to it we are headed for an economic collapse and the American people decided they would like to head off the cliff at 80 MPH (Obama) instead of 65 MPH (Romney). Honestly I put more hope in states nullifying federal law. More states legalizing Marijuana and more states refusing to participate in Obama care. The thing is if you want to do universal health care and socialism that is completely fine go do it in your state. If you want free health care, high taxes on the rich move to California, Oregon, New York (insert Blue state here) and push it through there. If you want less taxes less services move to Texas, Utah, (insert red state here). The fact of the matter is it wouldn't be nearly as bad if we could afford health care (Socialist Democrats) or afford 3 wars against countries that might hurt us or countries that are trying to over throw a dictator (Neo Con Republican) it won't make a damn difference at all because one day we will be out of money and we won't be able to afford to carry out either sides crazy freedom killing plans.

^^^ I thought this article summed up the polarization of America quite nicely. It is indeed like speaking different languages.

 

Even though those are completely legitimate reasons. I'll take him over Romney any day. And honestly, I wonder what would've happened if McCain had won in 2008. Which was who I voted for.
