Disc lid: Names of two voice actors Saeko Chiba and Ikue Ootani
Front: Different food items (fish roe, scallops,...)
Back: "Dreamcast", or rather Dorikyasu, a nickname sometimes used in Japan as it's a shortform of the real name "Doriimukyasuto"
Left side: "Summer Memories" (夏の思い出) - game takes place during summer vacation
Right side: 恋のダンシング, which I would freely translate as "Love Dance"? Not 100% sure if 恋 here is referring to a person (lover) or to love.

I am a bit too rusty at the moment for the letter, but from what I can gather the company is politely apologizing for the delay and they do mention that the Dreamcast console is a gift. I'm afraid I'm of no use for the rest at the moment, as it's too late to google the Kanji :p Someone here will be able to just read through it and tell you what it is anyways :)
Looks like quite a cool item, congrats!

I need help translating a few ad messages from a sample version of Contra:
[IMG]
[IMG]

I managed to type up the text from the first image (if I'm not mistaken):
3WAYスクロール
ハイポジシヨン
ビジユアル
ウエポンカプセル
システム

Unfortunately, google translate helps in no way for that.

Whoa, missed your replies when I edited my post. Thanks for the translations!

Only part that I have a bit of confusion on is the "approaching" in "alien approaching!". During my translation attempt (painful and unsuccessful), I saw that the text 接近 translated to "access". Only putting it backwards as 近接 makes it closer to "approach". Is that a particular aspect of Japanese writing I'm just unaware of? Sorry, I have zero knowledge on this :p

My dictionary (on computer, and head) has stated 接近 as approach/access. There was a shooting game that had it in Engish and Japanese (Ikaruga maybe?) that used the combo that I just did above. YMMV, but I think it works here.

EDIT: Nope, just checked. Anyway, you hear it in games all the time. It's very much a go to word. ;) If you want to get nitty gritty, probably "in proximity" is more grammatically correct. 接近中 would be "approaching".

I know it's quite a big job, but is there anyone that could do a full translation of the letter for me please?

Don't mind throwing a few dollars for the job, thanks in advance.

Hi dyer60,

Hope this helps:

=====
To whom it may concern,

We’d like to thank you for always tuning in to Nippon Cultural Broadcasting,
and are pleased to inform you that your postcard has been selected in a draw
to win a prize, which you will find attached.

We apologise for the the delay, and hope you’ll continue to tune in to
Nippon Cultural Broadcasting.

From everyone at Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, A&G Zone

Dreamcast Hour - Kita e White Illumination
=====

There is one part I deliberately glossed over though... In the sign-off, they use "担当者", which in this context could be "producer" or "director". I thought it sounded more natural to omit it from the translation though.

Cheers!

Am I going crazy? Pretty sure I posted an answer to that a while back. Did the forum lose some posts?

@GaijinPunch

Yeah, when I caught up on this thread the other day, I had the feeling the attachment had already been translated. Seeing as there was nothing here though, I thought I'd simply imagined it!

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could translate this: 貴様 あの列車の。 。。。。好都合だ決着をつけようか.
It's from the first armored core. In the us version it was translated as: "So you are the scum who attacked the train... Now's a good time. Let's settle this right now!"

I'd say the US translation is pretty close

貴様 You scumbag/bastard/son of a ...
あの列車の (on/of) that train
好都合だ (this) is convenient/favorable
決着をつけようか shall you/we settle (a dispute)? (volitional of 決着をつける)

So something along the lines of "You're that bastard from the train! It's a good place/time, let's settle this!" would probably be an alternative translation.

If it's a few sentences or a couple of paragraphs, why not just post it? Unless it's shunga or hentai, of course.

If it's pages and pages of text, or something written in bungo, then probably not, because of the time involved. I will likely make an exception and help translating a longish text if it's Jodo, Iaido or Kendo related (my other hobbies), or a Hoshi Shinichi short story (because I like them), in which case yes, we will take it to private messages.

Oh, and if you want someone to translate something from photographs/scans, it would be helpful if photos/scans are in focus. :)

Hi Celine,

I believe the gist is along the lines of:

"On 1st June, an interview took place concerning the trial broadcast of a multimedia hi-vision programme, “Digital Wars 2010”, that was the collaborative work of Asahi TV, Matsushita Denki and NTT, and centred around the 3D0 REAL."
