It only says: Please open the disc door, insert the "Otoire Disc", and close the disc door.

Indeed, the screen does not say more than that.

The manual on page 6 however, mentions that this command was foreseen to be able in the future to swap discs containing music compilations & co... (which were never released I think)

Interesting.. Well it would make sense to have extra sound sets on CD's. It's very limited with what the program currently has.

Hey speaking of the manual, I happen to have it - is there any other interesting info in it? It's the equivalent of a book in thickness, but it's all in Japanese. Seems like there might be some good stuff in there.

Hmm not quite what I expected to be honest!

As a bit more background I won this in a recent auction and it looks like a White Illumination themed Dreamcast was corn a major theme in the game?

the bottom looks like this, any idea what these translate as?

    image.jpg

I'm still waiting for it to arrive, thee does appear to be a letter included so that might shed some more light, although I'll need a translation for that was well.

    Thanks in advance.

Never played White Illumination so can't offer any help on that. Guessing if a letter is included it's significant and would probably provide some context. On the back, the large characters in the middle say daisuki, (love) so I guess someone loves something. Not sure if it's the game, corn, someone named corn, or something else. Hopefully the letter will help.

Wow -- where are they now: annoying Yahoo Japan hoarder version. Didn't know Yamatoku was still around. Yakumo might remember them. They bid on fucking *EVERYTHING* that was resellable on Ebay back in the day, with the account Yamatoku Office. Pissed off basically the entire gaming population of Japan. Best thing to come out of it was a YJ account that made a pun on their name: Yametoku Offense. Haha.

I fucking hate yamatoku now. Back in 2005-2007 most of the people weren't into japanese import stuff and they were good for cheap deals. Now they only jack up the prices, even for dirt cheap shit.

Wasn't aware of that. They are still going on ebay, they list quite often but I also belive hey run a website known as Gameofjapan.com so looks like they are still doing the same thing but selling via that as well.

Any idea what the text on the front of the console says?

I watched this auction as well and was tempted to bid, but then refrained.

The console is signed by two of the main voice actresses of the game "Kita he ~ White Illumination", Ikue Otani and Saeko Chiba. They both signed both with their real name and their character names (Megumi and Kotori). Due to the nature of the marker signatures and little drawings, I would assume that it was most likely signed for a fan on a "meet this voice idol" event, as the "Kita he" brand was quite successful for a few years and even turned into a short anime series later on.

Or maybe the original owner was the winner of some sort of crossword puzzle with the keyword "Toukibi" (apparently a guy called Toukibi plays a role in the 2004 anime, as I found out through Wikipedia) so when he received his prize, the voice actresses wrote all over it to commemorate the occasion!?

We'll probably never know for sure, but this is certainly a unique piece in every "Kita he"-Collection :p

    Thanks ave!

I have a similar theory (contest prize or reward for something) not necessarily a signing/idol event, maybe the enclosed letter will fill in the gaps. Looks like there is text on the side of the console as well, that also may help.

It will fit perfectly into my Dreamcast collection and be a great talking point.

Ha ha ha!!!! I know if it didn't have the letter included I would have had thos out by now.

Thanks for the translation although they do seem to be "random" maybe they have some connection to the game?
