She got a job up there. It was a very emotional and difficult separation. Nothing negative. I simply had no means of relocating to DC.

According to Danish law (the last time I checked) there, if you do not have your receipt, then you are boned. Unless, there has come an EU directive that says otherwise. But I can not remember that part.

derekb: well I have had two Zunes, and both of them has crapped out, the last one lasted three months if not a little bit more. The one I bought two weeks ago, was a Creative Xfi style, and that one crapped out on me in three hours.

Why do i have a habit of buying faulty stuff from ebay if i know they can be fixed easily from reading the description of the fault and then researching fixes on-line.

Last time i did this was a massive box of stuff which i managed to fix a few things and sell them on again making my money back plus i sold some opf the untested items plus i got a few bits i needed for myself

This time though i got me a Ipod nano 3rd gen that has the stuck at apple logo problem which i have read on-line that it can be fixed quite easily unless the one i bought has other issues not listed, issues not easily known about or just won't work.

Jesus fucking christ when will sony implement AVI support in their Vegas line. Today I had the chance to try Vegas 10 and it still doesn't allow for importing AVI files.

    User error.

I'm not meaning to sound like a dick but it's exactly the same program for everyone. I've used it for 6 years now and never ever had a problem.

Sounds like what's happened is you do not have "copy to iTunes folder" enabled. Creating an Mp3 version will make and put a copy in the iTunes folder.

Best thing to try is find the "consolidate library option" option and then try.

I still don't get why so many people have issues with iTunes, yeah it takes a while to figure out how it works and then once you get into a routine it's nice and simple, and totally automated if you wish. People beg for drag and drop but that's exactly what it is it just takes out some of the work for you...which is the whole point of the computer in the first place.

For my iPhone for example I have a playlist called iPhone, it will sync automatically everytime I plug in my phone. Great thing is I see a song I like in my main library, drag it into the iPhone playlist safe in the knowledge that it will end up there next time I plug it in. It does this because I learned to use the program and wanted to get the most of it. 9/10 people say fuck this...this is different, what a piece of shit.

The drag and drop alternative. Plug in MP3 player, get two folder windows ready, scroll through shit loads of files, drag over...ooops a duplicate...wait where was I...oh what about the songs I purchased on the go...have to find them and send them back over...christ what were they again?

On the other hand, when I synced a folder with pictures in it with my iPhone, it deleted my old photos. Left was only the new ones.

That usually happens because you've migrated the phone to another iTunes library or the same but on a re-install or new computer. OR you have no incoming folder set up on the PC for your existing photos on the phone to go in.

That is one thing I will fault about iTunes and Apple products in general.

Apple are too sure of their own OS that they presume that we're all gonna stay with the same set up/OS and if we change we'll use their built in migration tools.

I never do, I don't trust putting my files into some custom Apple format (i.e. Time Machine) so I'll do a clean install with my files stored on a seperate HD just copied and pasted.

This fucks up my iPhone considerably as it recognises iTunes as a new install and therefore wipes everything apart from contacts and messages. Fucking ridiculous.

Probably is due to user error and maybe i'm missing something here but i don't see why i need to create an mp3 version of all my music which is mostly mp3 in the first place plus have it copy to itunes folder??

It doesn't support FLAC. In this day and age? I know they want to pimp ALAC, but seriously, there's no excuse. They're the most ardently proprietary player in the PC space today, and fuck that. It sucked when Microsoft did it and it doesn't suck any less now that Apple are doing it.

Amen, I will rather have a flack compatible MP3 player, than some propriety shit.

Lack of flack (poetry FTW) is probably down to the fact that there's not enough demand for it. How many average joes out there even know what FLAC is? No excuse though really, should be there if people want it.

Also does FLAC affect battery performance?

Shouldn't be a problem for Apple, they've never cared what people want, they just shove features we don't want down and never knew about our throats.

Apple groupies are complete suckers. Take Snow Leopard for instance. In the world of Windows, we'd call that a "Service Pack" and it'd be free. There's no added functionality that could justify that price.

You could toss rockbox on an ipod classic or older nano or something.. then you'd get generally reliable hardware and not have to use itunes or anything so you'd get FLAC support and all on the device itself.
