worked for one firm as a temp for several weeks. They decided they needed to cut costs so fucked off a bunch of workers, myself included. A week later they realised they no longer had enough staff to do the work and I was sent back... I walked out after my food was spiked with drugs, but if you walk out of a job here you're automatically blocked from getting Jobseekrs Allowance because you left a job voluntarily...

 

I've been told that I have to register with at least 3 agencies by the next time I have a review at the Job Centre or my benefit claim will be sent to adjudication for assessment. I've also been ordered to apply for a job at ASDA (Wal-Mart) in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, closing date for applications is 05-04-11. Do I live in Wakefield though? No, I live in a little place called Holmfirth which is in the arse-end of nowhere and as I'm reliant on public transport everywhere takes forever to get to. When I pointed out these shortcomings to my advisor at the Job Centre, saying that an 8:00 start for example could be difficult to achieve she just looked at me and said 'shall we send your claim upstairs now then as you're refusing to apply for a position and putting obstacles in the way of gaining employment'? I'm 42 years old for fucks sake and being talked to like a child. As for complaining though, bad idea as each and every time you go to sign for your benefit afterwards everybody there has the knives out for you, I made that mistake before.

 

It's true that if you're seeking a job at a company where you know someone (especially the hiring manager or above), you'll have an edge over someone who does not, assuming equal qualifications and that you did great work before.

I've been at my current job for 16 years and if I were to look for a new company, I would start with the people that I worked with previously and will likely find a job that way. Coming out of college, this is my third job and all 3 jobs I got on my own without knowing anyone. During my 16 years, we've had 3 referrals out of ~30 hires so it's not all just people you know.

 

Also forgot to mention my IT teacher on either thursday or friday, She gave us an entire lesson OFF the computers talking about how not to clutter an e-Portfolio/make it ''effective''. Bearing in mind this is after 3 units of doing an e-Portfolio shows how fucking retarded she is really.

Well after nearly two weeks of talking with an agency I am finally getting a telephone interview tomorrow. It was supposed to be last week.

The company has interviewed a fair few people already but were so impressed that I actually constructed a basic app for their company as part of my application that they have put everything on hold just to speak to me, even after I told them I wouldn't go for an interview because they're 200 miles away.

Despite all the excitement and the fact that the company is desperate to make time for me I bet everything I own I don't get this job.

First of all, I am not going to disagree with you on that subject at all, cause any kind of male chauvinistic bullshit is something I hate too. Even though at times I can venture into that "field", but the female persons pushed me into that "field", sadly there was nothing I could do against them, except swallowing my pride.
