i do believe COD is such as sucess because it stand on its roots. its everything the same, just some enchancements. battlefield looks like COD(at least SP, i only play SP), but it goes to the realism and graphics, it became a sucess due to frosbite 2(you can blow everything on scenario).

no way RE with insects can be good.

COD is a generational thing. Just as how people got burned out on ww2 games and guitar hero.

EA might even die off from the result.

Future is a new, fresh fps series.

Well, talking about Capcom, we could always bitch about on-disc DLC, which is a complete and utter scam which I hope some heroic hackers manage to get around (and probably will).

I'm sorry, call me old fashioned, but I firmly believe that paying for a game entitles me to everything on it, without reservation.

WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE?

Agreed, Most people will spend $60 for a game maybe a couple times a year, for titles they really want (like whichever COD game comes this year), otherwise people will wait for it to either drop in price or get it used for a fraction of the cost.

    And here we go again:

Report: Dead Space 4 canceled after Dead Space 3 sells below targets

" The source also claims Dead Space 3 "was almost canceled" mid-development, and that EA told Visceral to bring in a wider audience than previous series entries did by focusing more on action than horror.

EA believed Dead Space 3 could comfortably outsell its predecessors, with company CEO John Riccitiello saying he could see the game selling 5 million units. EA announced Dead Space 3 pre-orders were "outpacing" those for Dead Space 2 in January's earnings call, although the publisher didn't disclose by what margin."

    http://www.destructoid.com/report-dead-space-franchise-may-be-on-indefinite-hold-247797.phtml

So, they really thought they would attract new people for the series by adding a terrible cover system, micro-transactions and co-op, on a game that supposed to be about horror and feeling of being alone all the time. Not only they didn't got new sales, they pissed off the fan base.

You won't troll me EA. Ever. I'll get this when it's 5 bucks or used.

PS: Yet another game that didn't sell 5 million copies and it's considered a failure. The topic title still stands.

Wait, EA is making a terrible decision that will come back and bite them in the ass?

    I cant believe this!

    /massive sarcasm

The microtransactions crap on a game that sells for $60 was EA giving all us fans the finger while it tried to get enough whores&coke budget for the next meeting

Dear EA CEO: go fuck yourself with a duck

    Sincerely, every gamer out there.

EA thinks because they throw 30 million into a title it will sell a billion.

Sorry, you can't run a game company like it's penny stocks.

What is needed is a full video game crash like in the 1983.

Just watched it. The narrator is basically connecting the dots and I agree that if the next gen systems attempt to undermine the used games market, the fallout will collapse most of the present developer giants. Also, his point about EA treading water, this is what I have felt.

When they are threatening black mail tactics using gamer accounts hostage over refunds, it's clear to me that they are in dire need of cash. Also, the fact that the large developer houses have been cranking out titles at a desperate rate, attempting to steamroll through this recession in their present pre-2008 form, this has alienated gamers and subsequently caused the market to slump. Of course this is also the best time for small up and coming developers to get into the fray.

It's market forces at work here and the big boys are trying to keep that incoming cash flow. The causal gamer is caught in the middle, being hit from all directions.

I agree, that it may be time to become activist with one's gaming dollar. Oddly, if this becomes a prevailing trend, we will definitely get a gaming crash.

    Oh yeah.

I don't think you can consider Sleeping Dogs anything other than a failure, honestly.

Well remember CoD was one of the franchises that made the WWII shooter a thing (them and Medal of Honor), it just adapted after 4 from being a repetitive WWII shooter to being a repetitive modern shooter.

Also EA is far from failure, especially with their timed-like-clockwork cash cows in EA Sports. When Madden routinely sells over 750k copies on launch day, the company that makes it won't fail. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/30/madden-13-sells-900k-copies-on-day-one/

They'll just consolidate, kill off "unpopular" franchises, and pump out Madden and Battlefield every year.

Why, specifically? For selling used games (that the publisher gets no money from)? A used game marketplace would exist regardless of Gamestop's existence.

Honestly if you're looking for games more than a year old, or niche titles, Gamestop is about the only brick and mortar place that will have it new.

I think the PS4 with it's open development might be a step in the right direction.

Then again any Asshole can make games was what killed the 2600 and others.
