What games do you think will become rare and expensive for the PS3? I know 3 games: Afrika - already a rare game, becoming more and more expensive Ratchet and Clank into the Nexus - This game had a limited print run, not expensive now, but uncommon. Very few ebay listings for this one. Deadpool - Not cheap if you look on ebay and I'm sure this game won't be having a reprint. Share your thoughts about this subject
Dunno about Ratchet and Clank into the Nexus. It is in stock on play-asia with US, Europe and Asia versions. In stock on Amazon and zavvi. Deadpool too.
My money is always on the Dynasty Warriors titles. The majority of them are owned by fans of that period of history and not often sold on. Being a button-mashing 'history' game, they tend to also not print many copies of each one. I've known areas where multiple game stores don't even bother getting a copy in at all unless you specifically order it. They're pretty fun games, will become harder to find, but won't appreciate much in value really.
Certain PSN games that were later removed from the store will probably become difficult to find in the future. I could imagine people selling PS3s already loaded with games like that (maybe people already do that?), though I think you'd need the PSN account associated with the game too. I recently discovered that the owner of a game that's been removed from the PSN store can still download the game any time. The same things could be said of XBLA and the Wii Shop Channel.
I can think of these in my collection right now, im sure theres more I will have to check in the morning. Metal Gear Online, I have this sealed, Japan exclusive a standalone release without MGS4 on the disc. Mayhem, EU version, I have a sealed EU version very hard game to find these days. Iron Sky Invasion, I have this sealed, this was a German exclusive and didn't sell very well over there so it had a very low print run. The Last Guy, Japan disc exclusive, it's also on the EU PSN store. Backbreaker, EU version, hard to find these days and I have never seen it in games stores.
Maybe Gran Turismo HD Install Disc? It was a Japan only release. And what about Wipeout HD Fury? It was released on disc in Europe and Asia, years after it's digital release. Have no idea how many were produced though.
X-Men Destiny may end up being rare due to copies being recalled to be destroyed. I keep hearing people saying Siren Blood Curse/Siren New Translation (on disc) is difficult to find, probably due to it only being digital in America and being censored as well. I'd say possibly uncommon at most because I frequently see copies nearby.
All of the Marvel-license games that have been recently pulled from PSN in particular: Marvel Alliance Gold Marvel vs Capcom 2 retail package download version some obscure WWII sims: Damage, Inc. IL-2 Sturmovik both are already somewhat pricey Afrika is already pretty difficult to find and here I'm going to go out on a limb and make a crazy prediction: Netflix PS3 software disc
Legal issues between Silicon Knights and Epic Games over usage of the Unreal Engine 3's code within the game. It's also been removed from digital storefronts as it was one of the games published by Activision that had used a Marvel license was removed from digital storefronts as well. Any unsold copies were recalled and destroyed. Used or mint copies were also not supposed to be on display within brick and mortar stores as well due to the dispute. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_Knights#Silicon_Knights_vs._Epic_Games
My guess is Aquanaut Holiday, available only in japan and south east asia. The English or promo version fetch a higher price, which is ever increasing. Have been supplying A few copies I acquired to few bros here on request.
Probably going to sound odd but it may be possible to find Aquanaut's Holiday in a particular video rental chain here - Civic Video seems to have taken to getting English but asian regional variant copies of stuff. Walked into my local one (and I'm in Sydney) and saw a wall filled with copies of Biohazard 6 and other titles. Some of them had the front covers changed out for the English covers but when I asked to check one of the discs, they were all regional asian ones that included English in them.
Silent Hill HD Collection. It sold horribly and many stores pulled the game due to the games issues that Konami refused to fix, and although Konami sells the game via their online store, stats show they sell very little copies of that game... so that will probably be rare. Probably won't be as rare as the gamecube version of Resident Evil Code Veronica X, which had a very limited print run, but I am sure it will still be close. Speaking of Resident Evil... The Japan only release of Biohazard Revival Selection will be rare, since it was released exclusively in Japan and was limited, same goes for Biohazard Chronicles Collection.
I also have noticed that the HD collections of games have a much more limited release. I would buy my favourite HD collection games now while you can get them new. Look at Ninja Gaiden trilogy for the SNES, it's an uncommon and an expensive game. Super Mario All-stars for the SNES, a common game, but also demands a premium price. I think that this is the best time to get games for the 7th generation of consoles.
What about collectors editions? I know that Ni No Kuni collectors box was going for alot of money just last year. There are also many japan only collectors editions out there. I'm also thinking Nis America titles like the Hyperdimensia Neptuna series will start raising in value.
