I sense from this thread that many people are equating rare to valuable, which simply isn't the case. Most ps3 titles will be produced in droves, so unlikely to ever become rare. Many of the low-volume titles in this thread might well be, or become rare, but will never become valuable. I suspect, as others have already pointed out, if it's valuable you want, then better to buy limited appeal games that are good, Afrika, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Symphonia titles, limited and collectors editions. If it's rare you want, then look for games released only in certain countries. When you start talking about game X with all the content on disc only released in place Y, it might be rare, but it'll only be valuable to someone wanting to collect everything, since the regular release would suit most people. I suspect that there will also be online projects to make available additional online content that has been removed from old online servers for 'retro' consoles in years to come, such as the PS3 / 360, probably in the same way that AG is so involved in making prototypes available, except the actual content is more likely to be sitting around on someones HDD, or maybe certain consoles will become more valuable as they still have lots of DLC / DL titles that are no longer available elsewhere.. So, I suppose I end on a question that only time will answer. Which will be rarer, limited run physical copies of otherwise DL only titles, or consoles with DL only titles pre-installed?
Even though still available, I believe the Under Defeat port from Dreamcast on PS3 will go for good amount. It is one of the very few classic shmups available for the platform in USA.
Puppeteer is another recent release. It was sold as a 1st party budget title, $40, but didn't get any widespread hype. BTW, highly recommended. It is an amazing old-school platformer genre with new tech and storytelling techniques. It looks gorgeous too! Check out vids if you have a passing interest.
HAZE - PS3 , it bombed really hard and actually made the developers go bankrupt, no more timesplitters
my money is on Gran Turismo 6 15th anniversary edition [the one with all the nice DLC and shit also it's the one i have] Gran Turismo 5 XL or limited edition [XL edition is the one with the X2011 and all the race cars]
Some possible rare ps3 games would be wolfenstine German - I think this was do to it being removed from all store shelves shortly after release due to 1 swastika not being edited. Another one is also a German release its south park stick of truth but the interesting thing is this carries a USK rating of 18 instead of the standard retail release having USK 16 rating on it. I know nothing behind the release sense I do not live in Germany though.
You can buy new and used copies of X-Men Destiny on Gamestop's website. If there was a recall, Gamestop didn't care.
I was also going to mention M.A.G. due to it being an online only game with the servers closed down, as well as it being less popular than CoD, etc. I already have multiple releases of it - PAL Steelbook Collector's Ed, Jap, US NTSC, PAL Promo/Review copy, etc. as well as any promo items for it i could get my hands on. LOVED this game! Only game on PS3 i double Platinum'ed (just don't ask how many hours spent/lost)!!
I've been hanging on to my physical copy of SIREN: New Translation in hopes that it will be somewhat valuable one day.
Assassins Creed Anthology is going to be rare. But it's going to be rare for all platforms, not just the PS3. It's already quite expensive.
my guess would be Demon Souls limited editions going up in price. I would probably say any "Tales of" games.
