Well it's arriving tomorrow, so will give you a shout and let you know how it is from a gaming perspective rather than "ZOMG teh blu-rayz r awsum on itz!"

You know, I was worried when I saw it in the shop that this might be the case, but it was an awesome TV (for the time)

Yes, i'm more concerned about input lag and blurriness in motion. Check the "game mode" as well.

Don't worry, as soon as it arrives and is plugged in I am going to hammer some WipeoutHD on it, 1080p 60fps and lots of contrasting colours should answer all that in one go.

Well Wipeout was awesome, I ranked first in a Rapier Class race on my first go (this is in game mode) when game mode is off though, you might as well not bother turning the console on. There's that much image processing going on the lag is unbelievable.

Will try some 720p games for you tomorrow fella.

I have been using my old LCD for 4 years and not had a problem with it, just upgraded as I wanted a bigger TV and 1080p

Yeah, i imagined that without Game Mode ON, it would lag a lot. Stil, some TV's work well with games, even with the Game Mode Off.

Anyway, it can save a config for each input port, so just let Game Mode On on the HDMI port the PS3 is using and save it. No need to worry about it again.

Thanks for taking time to post info on it. Will be looking forward of the 720p games upscale review :icon_bigg

One thing I should warn you about this TV, I only just plugged in the amp and speakers today and found there is a lag between the built in speakers and the external speakers. You have to go into the service menu to change the audio lag on the external speakers to match the internal ones.

I have no idea why they did this, it seems completely bizarre that they would set the audio delay differently and force you to go into the service menu to fix this. A less techie person wouldn't know about a service menu, and it technically voids your warranty.

Doesn't Plasma still suffer from burn in though?

Technically, everything that generates light suffers from burn-in, it just may take a while. :icon_bigg

It's impossible for LCD and LED TVs to suffer burn-in though.

Sure they do: all materials coating an emissive source discolor over time. It's just that you'll probably throw out the device or die long before that.

Plasmas have issues with image retention, which in my couple of weeks of owning a Plasma Ive never seen any, and Ive been looking. Samsungs have more problems (with IR, among other things) then Panasonic. And LCDs can totally suffer burn-in, but its about as likely as it is on a Plasma nowadays.

Plasmas have hardware features to prevent burn-in, and reduce possible image retention. The only time many people would recommend an LCD over a plasma is if you are using the TV in a super bright room, where an LCD really does have an advantage (brightness..)
