You have a small window to buy items from UK much cheaper.

I suggest if you've ever wanted a mega pc, amiga 1200, or other UK
    rarity to not hesitate.

It didn't fall that much though, did it?

PS. Really hope the UK leaves the EU. That would
1 Be real proof that the EU indeed can be democratic
2 Show the unelected, appointed, Brussels decision makers where their place is

The USD/GBP rate is down 9.3% right now - which is an absolutely huge change for a heavily traded currency pair like that. It suggests that a lot of people are dumping GBP as fast as they can.

You can see it as a 10% off on stuff from the UK compared to yesterday, fair enough rebate if you were hesitating to buy something.

Also, the dip is impressive considering how relatively stable the GBP was. A 10% change over a few months is not unheard of, but overnight? It's kinda intense!

I don't want to turn this into a political thread but as a challenge to your 2nd point. We do elect our representative in Brussels, they act on our behalf and the UK have a strong influence on the decisions the EU make towards us. Rather hilariously if the bill goes through, Nigel Farage is now technically unemployed as he's our European Parliamentary representative, he isn't an MP in the UK and has no job in the commons.

Might all seem like a big anarchist joke to you and an opportunity to "stick it to the man" but my wife and I are currently sat shitting ourselves. She was a leave supporter, I was stay and we're both now terrified of the outcome and very very seriously considering moving to Canada.

So while cheap imports might be great enjoyment for you guys across the pond and elsewhere, for us this is 100% terrifying, although I've never liked the Conservatives or some of the European policies we have to endure, this referendum has been a huge huge mistake.

Long story short, please keep the discussion about gaming and lower prices, please don't start swinging around misinformed political nonsense and show some compassion for those of us who just want to come here and talk about games and not worry about anything else. Plenty of other sites about to discuss global politics. I logged on here today to take a break from all the EU shit I'm fed up of and still can't escape it.

I like how moving to Canada is the de facto solution to all the crap that's going on in the world. Makes us appreciate what we got, especially now that Harper is out.

PS: you're welcome, Canada is HUGE.

"That's it, I'm moving to Canada" seems to be the geopolitical equivalent of saying "that's it, I'm never drinking again" after a violent hangover.

You guys should find a way to bank on that one.

    ...Here's a start!

[My last post about his, as I don't wanna put this too much off-topic.]

My point was that being considered a "nicer" alternative makes me kinda appreciate our situation better, eventhough it's far from perfect here and we find stuff to complain about all the time. I know most people that say that don't end up doing it.
Also, that publicity you sketched is basically how my grandparents ended up being farmers in the north...

PS: There really is a ton of room here if you accept living out of the big cities. Doesn't ensure a job though.

PPS: I really empathize with Britons over this. No matter how good or bad of a decision it end up being in the end, it will most probably be a hard couple of years coming in the near future.

Fear is always a very bad argument. I don't care about your fear. It's got nothing to do with anything.
Hey man, you started this debate. Don't come around saying "don't talk about politics" after writing a post dedicated exclusively to politics. That's called being a hypocrite. And don't be an arrogant woodlypoop, thank you very much.
What's nonsense is that I didn't vote for EU Commission President. He was "elected" by other officials, sure I may have voted for them but not for the President.
It's not a "silly anarchist joke" you silly beaver, it's about remaining an independent country. As opposed to being a province of the new European Empire. An empire that gets it's orders from the imperial center. However and whenever the centre sees fit. I'm of the opinion that we (Swedes) know better what's best for us, way better than some greeks or brits in Brussels.
I'm all for EU, as long as it continues to be a free and voluntary union, with national law reigning supreme.
This vote is the best way to show the federalists** that they should really calm their horses and change their approach.
(Do you know what a federation is? Russia is a federation, Germany, USA and Brazil too. Federation=one country. Federation=complete loss of sovereignty for the member states)

There's definitely a reason why we have a politics thread.

Personally, the video game market is pretty much the sole reason that I monitor international markets/currencies. As I hear about market woes, I begin to ponder, "How does this get me more interesting video games?"

I was joking around with my wife and friends for a few weeks prior that upon "Brexit" the pound would take a huge hit and I would take advantage to expand my video game collection. Specifically, I lamented that outside of Japan and U.S., the UK had the most interesting video game market in the world (at least historically), but I could never take advantage due to the cost of the pound. I really didn't expect it to happen, though.

Presently, I'm thinking about hunting down some accessories/games for my Amiga CD32. Classic computer stuff from the UK is super interesting to me in that it seems like a video game bizarro world to me. Tons of games that were popular there and on their specific machines, but nowhere else.

I didn't start it, at the end of your post you made an off the cuff remark about Brussels and that's what set me off. I also don't know how I'm supposed to be a hypocrite here, I can't exactly say please don't talk about [CENSORED] because I'm struggling with [CENSORED] can I? Anyway I said my "arrogant woodlypoop" (never heard that word before, thanks, will reuse that) piece and I'll leave it there. It was a very emotional day for a lot of us (which is why I probably went into attack mode, sorry about that) and I was merely making the point that I was disappointed to see what I consider to be a rather serious matter, being capitalised on for gain in a forum I usually come to to get away from it all. It's very hard over here at the min, communities and friends have been shattered by this referendum and every one is acting very cautiously and uneasily around one another, we even had a full on argument and nearly a fight break out on our street between neighbours on Saturday morning over differing opinions, and work today was not fun, there are people who have flat out stopped talking to each other due to the result.

I'm really surprised at Kev that he didn't start this in the political thread or off-topic at the least, at the moment it's a very sensitive subject and surely he must have realised it wasn't going to stay on topic.

As for the whole Canada thing. We've been spinning the wheel of emigration for a good year now anyway for entirely different reasons and it's one of the few places we could move to easily with my wife's qualifications, we've both spent a lot of time there, have a huge number of friends there and enjoy it a lot. California is the other place on the list we've been thinking about, the whole change in the nation that's occurring doesn't seem like it's going to be a very pleasant place to live in the future.
