So has there been any new discoveries as of late? I'd imagine there'd be something worth mentioning in this thread (read/write permissions with FTP for example).
You have to use package installation if you want to install or run anything on it. BD-Emulation works, also some packages like Multiman. Depending on what you want to do with your DEX. Need the 4.70 update
I'm Charles' friend that bought 2 of the prototype a few weeks ago. I'm sorry about the delay, but I've been extremely busy with work and wasn't able to get around to post some of my pictures. Any questions, just ask. Anyone know how I'm supposed to know if these games are retail versions or not? What is interesting is that the PSN login and pass is still there and also, there are like 10 local logins on both PS3s
Is there anything specific about the firmware? From the screenshots it looks just like a regular DECH-*
A lot of times that is the case. I've got a prototype XBox here that is a hybrid of parts. It's got a 1.6 mobo but it has a DVD-ROM from a 1.4/1.5 and a HDD brand not common to 1.6 consoles. I'm sure there is something else different but best I can tell the kernel is retail and I have no idea about the dash because it was soft modded by some idiots before I got it. Of all the XBoxes you could buy in 2003 and they had to soft mod a prototype.
I usually grill people who want to upgrade the hard disk in a Debug or DVT-3/4. Just mod a fucking retail system.
Or that guy who took a crystal clear XDK, made it slimline, and painted it black. What a bloody wanker.
They were on auction for a brief amount of time. To get one now you'd have to purchase one off a current owner, and it's probably going to be a hefty price. That and if it's for CFW related purposes, you're gonna have a harder time getting them to sell it.
Sorry for the bump. There's one of these for sale on eBay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PS3-Prototype-Console-Very-Rare-No-Reserve-/222132112214? Just in-case someone still wants to buy one (not my auction).
I'm the current highest bidder - but I'm absolutely okay with passing this up to someone that has a use for it (IE will not just let it collect dust)
