As some of you may already know, I've some problems with a dodgy soft mod. I'm trying to restore my Xbox back to its original settings. From the softmod menu I go into System, then go into "Boot Softmod Menu", then I'm taken to the "Softmod Installer Deluxe" menu. There is the option to "Remove Softmod", but when I select it I get the message "This will delete the softmod and restore your C Drive back to normal. You must have a MS backup ready otherwise it will not work. Do you wish to proceed?" Where would I get a Microsoft backup from? The modkit I purchased was the Splinter Cell USB kit. The console still has the option of booting into the Microsoft Dashboard, so would it be safe to proceed or would I need to get a USB with an MS backup on it? Attached are photos of the steps I've gone through.
I usually just copy over a MS backup from another Xbox. If you want I can send you a backup later today when I am back home. PM me.
Off the top of my head, I'd recommend using the "HeXen" toolkit and doing a "complete rebuild". I beliebe that disc should come with everything you need, setting you up with a stock HDD layout and the latest msdash.
Yeah doing a full softmod rebuild with HeXen or auto installer deluxe should work.... I haven't tested it since the xbox one came out but back in the 360 days after the original xbox live when offline the dash update for the original xbox was still live so you could re-update the dash from m$ and uninstall the softmod but yeah haven't tested that in years and rebuilding the softmod with a tool would be easier
Check to see if you have a backups folder on the E:\ drive, perhaps this is the backup it's looking for. I'm curious to this as well, I have a console with a softmod installed on it and I want to restore it back to how it was. I did notice a E:\BACKUPS folder, I'm guessing when the Uninstall Softmod option is chosen it restores the contents from the backups folder? I haven't done anything with the system until I know exactly what happens when an uninstaller runs.
Use JCRocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool. Burn a copy of the included Extras Disc to a DVD-R, or just FTP the contents of its iso to your HDD. Run it and either upgrade to his softmod, or restore the Xbox back to stock, then resoftmod it with his softmod. If you choose the latter option, you will lose all of your saves and DLC, so make sure you back those up first. No one should use those old softmods like SID or Ndure anymore. They're crappy and outdated. JCRocky5's is simpler (you literally just press A a few times and it's done), better, has a cleaner UI and is still regularly updated.
hey Jarrah White i tried those same steps and now when i turn it on without a game in it i get error 13 when i put in a game i get error 21.... can anyone help ??
AC power has been disconnected and the clock cap discharged. Result, the date/time have been lost and the console is trying to load MS Dashboard to set them but cannot find the file it needs to do so. You'll need to add a copy of the MS dashboard files to the HDD. Hotswap or XboxHDM, which method depends upon having access to the EEPROM.bin backup saved to a PC (not on the Xbox HDD).
the clock caps i took out.. where do i get the MS dashboard files.. how do i do the Hotswap or XboxHDM.. i didn't have time to save the EEPROM to my pc
Which game and which error? Is there a number in the upper-left corner of the screen? Clean C and E files for Xbox (actually E's empty MSDash files are all in the C folder) XboxHDM23USB Beta 2 (extract both add files from first's C folder to second's hdm/C folder) You'll need a USB-to-IDE/SATA adapter to connect HDD to a PC. Start XboxHDM23USB Beta 2 with the xboxhd.bat file. Need that eeprom.bin file so you can unlock the HDD on the PC or have to let the Xbox unlock the drive first and hotswap connect to the PC's USB-to-IDE/SATA adapter to gain access to the HDD. Until the drive is unlocked, no data can be read from or written to the HDD. (add eeprom.bin to the folder that has xboxhd.bat in it on your PC) If your PC has an IDE interface, you'd use the XboxHDM 2.2a instead. P.S. First rule of modding Xbox, "Save the EEPROM.bin file to another computer". The backup folder contains several files: EEPROM.bin, hddinfo.txt, etc. EEPROM.bin is the most important file.
their are 2 xboxs 1 use to have error 13 on boot up a then error 21 but now it only has error 16 showing.. and the other xbox i loaded all the nes, snes and n64 roms on it then i rebooted it and now it's just saying this system requires service
