I now have about 40 games on my 128gb SD., including Pier Solar, and Half Life.
Is there any way to change the name of the game that is displayed in GDmenu? How about adding a disc icon? Half Life displays as Crazy Taxi.

When you press "Save" in gdmenu-sd it should ask you if you want to change the names, just do it there.

I got it, thanks to all for all of your help!

Now is there a way to add Disc icons? Also, is there a,way to edit the GDI's themselves to have custom game names and disc icons?

I would assume that the linux build provided earlier in this thread should work, if you know how to manually start a mono application on OS X from the command line terminal.

I always thought you can use Boot Camp to run Windows Apps on a MAC?

I see this come up a lot where a MAC users wants to run a Windows app. Another alternative is to manually add and edit GDI''s, assuming you know what the file and folder structure should look like

Yeah that's my plan now is just do it manually... The menu should help a lot! And I'm just making a excel sheet to keep track of all my games

    Read speed tests?

I play Phantasy Star Online quite a lot. I usually play online with a mix of DC and PSO PC players. The loading time difference between the PC players and myself drove me to get a GDEMU. I went through many spare cards I had in order to find a few working ones.

Has anyone done any read speed tests with their cards?

Also, Is it possible that a bootable test image be created for the purposes of testing cards inside the GDEMU? Such as a Read/Write/Burnin test boot menu selectable suite. Nothing too fancy, just a text based command line style is more than enough.

    Best regards

I'd like to add that I get random GDmenu lockups while using a Samsung EVO 128GB SDXC card.
I'm running 5.13.0 firmware and using GDmenu 0.5.2 on a PAL DC.

I didn't see any of this lock up behavior on my only other available card that I had at the time which is a transcend 8GB SDHC class 10.
I have ordered one of the recommended Kingstons - I went into my local electrical store and the Samsung SDXC card was the only one of the size I wanted.

I was worried that the unit was overheating, so I just did the 12v mod on my DC and it's for sure running cooler - however it hasn't helped the freezing menu problem, I believe only a new SD card will do that.

I will reformat the SDXC to different cluster sizes and see if that helps while I'm waiting for a new card to arrive.

Also - while I'm here - this may be rather obvious, but if you forget to put a disc image in a folder leaving it empty, GDemu doesn't skip over that and show the rest of the folders, it will truncate your list. It took me a while to work out why the 20 games I'd copied weren't showing up past number 12 - number 13 was empty and it simply stopped showing the rest of the list.

It will be you're SD trust me because I had issues with random lock up's, games crashing, if you look through my posts.

It's the same with UGC (USB ode from Mnemo) as just recently the hdd I was using suffered the same problems as GDEMU with random crashes and was made worse from the last fw update. I got a new enclosure this week and no more hang ups.

But going back to your issue, the Kingston SD will be fine since I have the 128gb version and no more random crashes since.

Without taking the risk go for the Kingston 128gb that is on the list on the 1st page here. I own two and they work without any errors after a lot of stress testing. As long as you format it correctly, you'll be fine.

just a thought, but could it be that maybe the ones that have issues are fakes? i know there are alot of samsung fake cards sold. or maybe its the sd adaptor. either way, i think i will get the kingston 128gb just to be safe

IIRC some cards do some kind of maintenance in the background sometimes, which results in a increased "seek time" when reading. Now that doesn't matter very much when you're taking pictures or transferring data with a buffer, but it somehow messes with gdemu -- timing issues I'd guess.

If you're brave enough to look into the previous pages, a lot of cards were confirmed working by others. I personnaly use the 64GB "PNY Elite Perfromance" and IIRC someone uses the 128GB one too. Those cards may be cheaper than the Kingstons.

@duskdawn, I check the previous pages, and ShadowofBob did confirm the "256GB PNY Elite Performance" works. You could update the first post with that card, as well as the 64GB one, which I tested to work.

I bought the Samsung card from a HUGE electronics chain store so it's definitely not fake - but it was worth you mentioning it.

I also tried using a different adapter - it didn't even work with another adapter than it's own!

Finally, I tried formatting it with a different (smaller) cluster size this actually made a very pronounced delay when scrolling through each game in the list, with the standard cluster size for that card 32768 it at least works more smoothly until the random freeze.

I did find that I had a 32GB Sandisk card in a camera, I've formatted that and used it extensively and it works flawlessly - so as Krisk77 says, it's definitely the SD card that was giving me problems. I highly advise NOT using the 128GB Samsung EVO SDXC card!

While I am here - does anyone have Elemental Gimmick Gear working? Both TOSEC and TruRip GDI images I have just reboot the console, all other games are working fine for me.

I have tested every GDI from the Trurip dump with no issues, so that could be the SD card again, different games have different seek times (timing issues) because Crazy Taxi is notorious for crashing on the Sega Screen during the demo loop at some point, if the card is not up to standard, so that is a good test to try when you get a new card.

Reboot to bios screen, etc, is also a PSU (pins) problem. Try cleaning with some IPA and bend the pins back so they make better contact. However, I would firstly try a new SD before messing with that.

CD has sector size of 2048. I've formated several 18gb cards Fat32 with 2048 sectors and they work fine. Formatting does take a while.
