The PS2 mockup was from a 1999 UK mag, I remember seeing it and liking it. looked around the net to see if i could see it again , nice to see it again
Yeah, seems like they were trying to scare those thinking about switching, without actually pushing out a product.
I now wish to build a time machine so that I can travel to the recent past and MAKE THIS SHIT HAPPEN! Having lived it I think I can say that this was the best time to be alive for gaming. There were a ton of great titles being released and technology was really breaking so there was this great future that was just on the horizon. Each system had a unique look to it's games and there was really something to look forward to with add-ons and then "next gen" stuff. I can honestly say I have no idea where they'll go with the stuff that's coming out next. I sort of feel like we've hit a ceiling where everything looks the same and it's all sort of "blah" with nowhere to go. Sort of like spilling chocolate milk in the cafeteria.
Things look the same now a days? That's about as relevant as everything looking nearly the same in the prominent 2D Eras or that basically EVERY (Not every game, but the majority of them)game was based on Side Scrolling. It's no different today, than it was then. Just with a different slice of icing. Instead of side scrolling or 2D sprites, it's with 3D models and other stuff. There is still PLENTY of varried material out there, just as there was varried material besides all the side scrollers in the generations of the late 80's to early 90's.
That picture has been doing the rounds for years. Some say it's a photoshop effort, others say it's real but just some home made effort from a bit of Sony audio equipment. What ever it is, it looks like shit. Yakumo
I remember seeing that years ago. I wonder if maybe it was just supposed to be a Sony-branded Super Famicom, like the Hitachi HiSaturn or the Sharp Twin Famicom.
The angle of the photo seems to mask it's true dimensions but even taking that into account it doesn't look wide enough for anything beyond a cartridge.
I mean I kind of have been keeping it alive... I have some great photos, Mine as well share them.. More of a Unproduced Systems for the masses. but This is probably fake. v
Which makes me believe it's some kind of early playstation dev kit, which was a souped up super famicom that sony used to develop on before they had working cd prototypes, and cd-rom dev kits. Or, maybe it's a early prototype of a sony branded snes.
