I watch your show every time a new one goes up so it was easy to tell who you are from the way you write :) it's just how you speak.

Anyway, hope you can find someone to read that disc for you.

I'd be interested in one of the models you have if you ever sell them again. Do you have any idea on the region of discs they read?

I wonder if Nintendomad had one of those blue disks. I wonder where his stuff went?

Since you seem knowledgeable about this stuff, maybe you could answer a question that's been puzzling me for a while - I used to have a 64DD dev setup, (Partner 64 + 64DD dev drive) and there was a piece in with it that I couldn't work out the purpose of. It was basically an adapter that went into the N64 and let you plug two cartridges into it at once - this appeared to be an official Nintendo product and had some chips (including a CIC) on it. Initially I thought it was for plugging in both the Partner 64 and the IPL cart, but the instructions didn't mention it at all and said to connect the IPL cart to the socket at the top of the Partner 64. I think the marking on the board was "NUS-DCC" - but unfortunately I don't have that setup any more and I can't find any photos.

Yeah, that's it - it was just strange because it was in the box but not mentioned anywhere in the documentation

The NUS-DCC (Dual Cartridge Connector, if I recall) is used in order to have two carts inserted in parallel. One slot would hold the Initial Program Loader for development (loaded in the Flash ROM or as part of a combo game, such as F-zero X) and the other would be the Font and Sound sample cartridge (IPLROM). From what I understand, it was used for debugging/testing games in scenarios where Partner was not used, on dev DDs (Which don't contain any ROM).
e.g : Distributing the game or IPL to the testing team on regular flash carts + the corresponding blue disks

The Font+Sound+IPL are combined (and modified as to certain memory offsets and a few other bits) in the retail DDROM.

Hope this solves your question TriMesh.

I've attached some old media that illustrate this point.

Thanks, that makes perfect sense now. I guess it was supplied with the development drive, but the docs I had were for the Partner64 + DD setup, which didn't mention it because it's not needed in that configuration.

I've had a couple questions about the unit. Specifically:

    1) Have I tried booting the unit without the memory expansion and just a Jumper pak? See error screen below
    2) Can you run US cartridge games with the drive attached (yes, see screen low)

I have the hardware needed to dump that disk, 64DD dev kit and 64drive... but sadly I'm too far away. Good luck in your search for someone closer to you, I too want see/hear what's on the disk :)

Please note that I don't have access to a 64DD development drive to be able to see what data is on the disk, so it is sold as is.

Gambling 1K for what could very well be a blank :p

Why the hell didn't I get emails even though I've put this thread on watch...
Anyway that disk on eBay can be empty. Just to watch out.
About the NUS-DCC: We used that to dump the DISK cartridge by putting that and a 64drive to dump it using the IPL dumper.

Anyway, @PostedOval, keep us posted about any news about your disks and the dump of the US IPL ROM inside your 64DD.
