users experiencing "problems" with delivery of items bought from gavroche...

I too got some not so pleasant replies from him....if I got any replies as all :=)

Surely someone must live "close" to him? Stop by his house and report him to the police if he doesnt give you all your stuff.

Seriously... Not having time to post items out or to e-mail your buyers is a poor excuse. No matter what happens you still ahve a duty to either supply the items or offer a refund. I mean one call (or netbanking) to your bank account/paypal or watever should sort most people out.

Also its no excuse to be waiting for money from the post office... Buyers should not have their cash held by someone else just because they spent it before the deal was finished or just doesnt want to give it up.

If you have no time to post items out/work things out with the post office then YOU HAVE NO TIME TO SELL ITEMS!

 

I guess I'm lucky in that I received my package from Gavroche last Friday. It took him several months to ship, but in his defense, I moved in November and asked him to hold off shipment until I got settled in. This was my second deal with Luke and the first one went smoothly and I received my systems 1 week after payment (2 DVT3 XDK systems in August 2004). I do not know why he has stopped responding to everyone as he used to be very helpful and quick to respond to questions (at least with me and our deals through xbox-scene), but apparantly he is having severe financial problems and has stated to me that he is filing for bankruptcy. He stated to me that he did not even have the funds to ship my system, so I took a chance and sent him some extra money to cover shipping last week. I figured it was either that or buy a plane ticket to pick up the system in person. I really hope Luke comes through on his obligations to everyone. Not sure if anyone else received this message, but I got this on 11 February:

It is my unfortunate duty to inform you that LA Twydell and Co T/A Smart

As to why he's not replying - who knows? He isn't replying to his friends either, from what I hear. And actually, he always was like that - remember how hard it was to get a reply from him when you wanted something way back when he first posted?

Perhaps his personal difficulties have become too much for him. Still, it is always a good idea to keep in contact with those you owe, so it is a shame. Of course, it harms his reputation too. I'm sure most of us would be forgiving if he were in financial difficulty, but kept in contact.

 

And then there's the train fare - expect to pay £20.40 or £42.80 depending on what time you leave. That's a return from Heathrow to Letchworth. If your plane went to Gatwick or City, I don't know how much it would be. If you went to Liverpool, err you're stuffed!! £20 is about 30 euros, isn't it? So you're looking at about 100 euros just for the possibility of meeting someone who may or may not still live there, and may or may not be at home.

i was going to uk anyway just a coincidence that my xdk is also in uk
in 2003 i did some holidays in uk and we drove around the whole island from england up to the top corner in scottland 5500km woa was nice and since then i like the county a little ;-)

 

The going bankrupt w/ everyone's money is a classic scamming practice. Businesses do it so you can't sue them. Then sometimes they run off and start a new company and do it all over again.

Not saying that hapenned here, but it seems suspicious.

I know I have done a number of deals with him and he was always fair. Shipping seemed to have problems but everything always arrived just took a couple of months.

 

i also offered to send some more money to pay for shipping, but did not get an answer. :|

 

I would NOT recommend doing that at this point in time. No need to piss away any more than we already have.

 

Asnozz lives near him when hes not at uni. He should be off on a break sometime soon? (maybe easter?) Will you be going home?

1, buy GDEV from some one.
2, i fast to pay by "western union" HK$ to UK (2004-9-3)
3, waiting the post, ( i have not $ by air , so use SHIP)
4, 6 week wait seller tell me the pack it lost by post office and he say it lost state can not check id from post office.
5, well. money he can get back from post office, but need wait few day.
6, some think happen, he can not re my message in irc,mail,and phone.
7,2 week wait.....he give me money back.(today is 2004-11-16)

well,even can not get rare stuff, be he not "run away" final i can get back my money, just lost time to wait and send money service chrage.
