i can confirm that hes alive i didnt speak with him but i reached him through xbox-scene private message and he did answer today (message did contain the same info as stated above) so iam happy we heard of him again

 

I can also confirm that the above is a legitimate statement from Gavroche.

I have dealt with him in the past and I have found him to be extremely helpful and very fair.

He is the sort of guy who is willing to go that extra mile to make things right. As oldengineer has stated, Gavroche has a few problems that he needs to sort out. For those of you whom are still waiting for your goods, I know for a fact that he has them, that they are safe and that he will try his best to get them to you by any means possible.

I am certain that everything will be sorted out amicably in the end, but Gavroche will appreciate your patience.

True in some cases, but usually only in the business world. On a personal level it is possible, but people tend to get caught doing it. It doesn't really matter to a crook though. The problem with bankruptcy is, depending on the type filed. I don't know about the laws where he is from, but unless it was chapter 11 than that stuff he/the company owns will be sold to pay creditors first. Chances are he will not be allowed to sell them to who he would like. That's a easy way to hide assets and a big no no.

i purchased a xbox dev kit through gav the roach back in nov last year. never turned up , got the your package has been lost, im in france, were processing a lost claim, im am stringing you along like a dumbass excuses for about three months.

im from australia.

yeah i solved it i count the money as burned and a experience won at least for now and cause i dont have time to fly to uk but i will in the future so well see

 

I consider this a very expensive lesson learned, and I don't believe for one second that anything's going to show up at my door.

 

Someone in the uk needs to pay him a visit! Someone give me his address and i will give you the phone number of the local police station. They do tend to take action as i have found out. Mostly after ebay sales but im sure something like this would be ok.

It's a work address, as far as I know. As Smart Devices has ceased trading, I am not sure whether he would be reachable at that address any more.

I paid out ~$1800 AUD for an xbox xdk, i missed the auction on ebay but mailed him from that link.


Just for users info:

i payed via paypal.

he said he sent the goods but never provided a shipping/consignment number. my guess - never shipped.

he then tries to delay you - holidays excuses etc -

he then says package is lost by courier - procesing insurance claim, but don't worry ive still got plenty more dev kits - yeah sure sure - delays you more - delays now tally 90 - 120 days or more

you are then almost delayed outside of claims processing disputes times!

paypal wouldn't do anything for me!
ebay wouldn't either.

I went to my bank and contacted visa as i made my payments with a visa card. approx 4-6 weeks later and after keeping on the banks back and showing how he strung me along VISA did a charge back to paypal.

I got my money back approx 5-6 months after the initial transaction.

I now assume paypal are now chasing him. :smtassho:

interestingly i saw a french xb hacker giving props to him in a release - he goes by the name of yoshihiro - maybe he got the dev kit!

 

From what I saw, he was alright at the start, but as time went, fewer and fewer people recieved their stuff. Im glad I bought my PC instead of buying from him.

 

so pretty much you guys were ass raped? if he is really having problem he should atleast post in here and not just idle @ irc... god some people... just call the damn popo.
