I was in Nakano today and notice that they had quite a lot of rare stuff in, including Megadrive Tetris and Nagoya Banking Service but what caught my eye was a Vampire Killer Gold Cartridge, apart from it being gold, had a letter and a normal box it didn't seem much different. I tried to take a picture but got jumped on by the staff before I could even open my PDA... Anyone know anymore? Oh they had NOT FOR SALE signs next to them too...
Yes, could you tell us the price of this gold cartridge and Tetris please ? Do you have seen some PC Engine collectors in Nakano ? Thanks
I haven't heard of a Vampire Killer gold cassette before... Hehe! You must go back to get pictures. ^_^ Did they have a Rockman 4 gold cassette too?
Never heard of this either, nor did some of the Castlevania-collectors I know... weird. Was the game itself "not for sale" or was it just saying Hibaihin in the description and they put a price tag next to it? PS: Why didn't you ask the staff about it? ^^
I think he means the shop is not selling the games. I asked a couple of contacts. One said it might be the first manufactured cart, or some other symbolic number, presented to the main dev or some such person. But that was a guess. The other seemed to be saying he remembered some competition with it as a prize. Marks for originality lol. Said he'd look through some old mags, but again wasn't sure, could be getting mixed up. Interesting though.
Maybe you could go back to the store in a Godzilla outfit and steal it when everyone runs in fear? =) It's probably nothing more than some gold colored plastic but an ordinary copy of the game inside.
its either that or a hyper-gold edition containing 2 extra levels and 4 new characters :033: hey you never know..
I'm sure the shop you're refering to belongs to Mandarake in their Nakano mall. They are the biggest traders on rare games in Japan and dig up very rare stuff from time to time. I searched the Mandarake Galaxy news in Nakano but couldn't find an entry for a gold Vampire Killer. If it is real and so damn rare that they won't sell it at the moment (like with Yam Yam Gold in 2005), it should have been posted in their newsletter... or even they don't know much about it and just put it in the shop to brag for the time being. ;-)
Well as of Tuesday it was there in the "You want how much for that?" cabinet. I wanted to take a photo but the shop assistant wouldn't let me use my PDA even when I showed him that I was using a translator (the Palm Zire 71 has a slide out camera so it's not obvious...) Oops in my haste I forgot to write mandarake, it's a bit weird as the shop has got worse and worse in the last few years with nothing exciting there and the interesting stuff is the rare stuff which most of time is overpriced and mandarake have no inter store pricing as I've found things cheaper in another store on the same day. i will go back next week and find out what there is.
The person pricing it has their autograph on the tag. I've seen the same names on stuff in Shibuya & Nakano. Guess you gotta get lucky.
Whou really interesting, it's a pity that you couldn't take a picture. The Nakano Mandarake is know to get indeed worse and worse. Some years ago it was still a very interesting place. Also, since they've opened a new shop at Akihabara some months ago maybe a part of the stock from Nakano has been transfered to Akiba.
The Mandrake in Kokura in Kita Kyushu is pretty good but I heard that the main head store in the one in Hakata, Fukuoka City. I've only been there once a few years back and while it had some fantastic stuff the prices were nuts. Yakumo
