If it was less than $5000 probably. Although I assume if it was for sale it would likely be higher than that.
Ah that pic brings back memories. I remember visiting Galaxy in February and seeing the gold Vampire Killer in the cabinet. The money's worth in that display case is staggering.
Is it just me or is the Japanese title above Vampire Killer (on the box) gold? It could be just the usual white but I'm not sure.
I think after a long time I managed now to find contest in old magazine. I think it is limited 1 piece, but also a silver cartridge limited 1 piece and 3 copper cartridges (but I think maybe they meant bronze)? I think in total it is limited 5 pieces. ^_^ I can try to make scans of it if it can help any?
It would help a lot One piece... Mandarake should put it right next to their copy of YamYam to start a little "one piece only" corner.
Hm, was this a Gradius2 contest? I mean, bc of the Gradius2 logo next to the 3 Vampire Killer carts...
I can't read the article, but the small box with the prizes says the 1st prize contained the gold cartridge, a sparkster pin and a Konami telecard (of Gradius II, obviously). Same goes for the second prize (silver cart) and the third prize is missing the telecard, it comes with the Sparkster item though. Every cartridge is described as "Special ROM with name", so I guess the name of the winner was implemented into the game. Kinda like NAI's Dodonpachi Campaign version PCB - "For use in NAI territory only"
