I had no idea this was out. passing what looks like a run down arcade (Well it is on the outside) I noticed a poster in the window saying Virtua Fighter 5. BS I though but as always curiosity got the better of me, so I entered. Nothing downstairs apart from 3 of those massive satellite games (Never really got in to them). So upstairs I went. There it was in brand new Lindbergh cabinets. they had 4 units plus two ranking pods that show live information from around Japan of who is in the rankings. The game is absolutely stunning !! That's all I'm going to say. While there I managed to grab two videos with the phone before getting told off as always by the staff. Actually it was quite funny watching them come over to the cabinets every 5 minutes to clean them. I've never seen the staff in that place take so much care of anything. Anyway, here are the links to 2 videos that I took. You may need to download the Sharp mobile phone audio codec to get the sound. You'll have to right click then "save as" to download the files. Video 1 - 5.38MB - 1minute 46 ASF file http://www.segagagadomain.com/Virtuafighter5-vid1.ASF Video 2 - 1.84MB - 38 seconds ASF file http://www.segagagadomain.com/Virtuafighter5-vid2.ASF Yakumo
Nope its officaly out in the arcades, a week or two i beliive., I forgot which site anounced it. Sadly this thing will never come to the states as stated by a member of AM2. So the only way we will get to play it sadly on ps3. I was reading that these arcades require to be hooked up to the vf network, as well they are get this, rental only!!!!
Whoa, looks quite alluring in motion. I never got why you're not allowed to take pics or video inside stores or arcades, though. It's not as if you can steal the machines' souls or something...
hehe Yakumo that's funny....On Wednesday I was in the same arcade and took a video and the same machines. I bought a video camera last weekend and I had it on me. I got about a minute or two worth of video of VF5 plus some of Blast City next to it.
I've had quite a bit of video on the last page of this article for a good 5 months now. The game is stunning, no ifs, ands, or butts about it. The engine is very much based on 4 as well, so will feel comfortable for veterans. Almost all arcades are though. It just requires an internet connection. Even the shithole arcades had their VF4 cabs connected. Other games like Tekken, Virtua Striker 4, etc. also utilize an internet connection, so they're obviously becoming more prevelant. Kind of glad I'm not there. VF takes up way too much fucking money top lay competitively. EDIT: Damn CSS
Uh.... guess the videos don't do it justice. 720p is noticeably sharper than 480p... even if the polycount wasn't higher.
Now that is strange ! just one day before as well. What type of camera did you get? Nothing looks cooler than a sharp viewcam or so I keep getting told  It sure does. While DOA4 looks very nice the backgrounds don't seem as good as those in VF5. For example, in the Japanese garden stage there are people in the background with life like movement going about their daily life. This is one hell of a stunning game. By the way, the videos are running in 15fps at a crappy 350 x 240 resolution. They by no means do the game any justice but at least it's better than nothing. I may try to get a few videos with the digital video camera at DVD resolution 60fps. Still won't looks as good as the real deal but at least will look a hell of a lot better. Feel free mate. Don't forget the credit though  Yakumo
If i were living in japan it probably still be an issue to play it, cause if you think about it all the skilled veterens are probably constanly on it. I'd probably get my ass handed to me in less then 2 seconds. Still Lidenberg is a site to behold with their hd screens.
So it's finally here, then? I'm not surprised the arcade staff check on the machine every few minutes - considering how much a Lindbergh deluxe cabinet is worth, I'm surprised they've not covered it in bubble wrap or hired a guard yet! P.S. Anybody else think VF5 might have been released just a little too early? My guess is that a new revision will probably be launched in a few months once AM2 has gauged reaction to the initial version, perhaps even giving us an early indication of what to expect from the console editions...
Nah, no issue -- just go to a less than crowded game center. Remember, they're everywhere. Everyone's gotta learn sometime. I was a massive scrub, but still found places where I could win a few. Eventually, got better, and played in some somewhat competitive places. Of course, it helps when you have people helping you. I got a few of my characters up to "mosa" in Evo/FT. I did 3-rounds undefeated on VF5 at the last AM Show (then it automatically would boot you off) No way. FT's been done and gone for 2 years now, and wasn't even that great when it came out. Just a gimmick for more dough. VF5 was long overdue. Fixed versions are inevitable though... no way they can get the system right the first time. The system is just too sensitive.
I won't even comment on the graphics, since of course they are better... But if SEGA managed to improve or at least made the game play just like VF:4 Evolution, it's perfect already. I still think VF4: Evolution is the best 3D fighting game ever. Can't wait to play VF5.
Have they officially announced that it won't come out for the 360? Can you show me a source? By the way, this thread has made me think they ought to come out with a "cell phone camera" version of VF5 for the PS3. It'll play in a little tiny window at the center of your HDTV, it'll shake around a bunch, there'll be people coughing in the background, and it will play in glorious FM quality mono sound. It'll happen.
I think they said they haven't ruled out the 360. The game just won't work properly online though, which is what Microsoft is going to want. Current internet speed will not work with moves that sometimes execute in 1/20th of a second. Any online version will take a massive hit to the brilliant engine. It indeed does feel the same, with some added goodies of course. There's a whole new evade->attack system which I've really not had a chance to properly try (did it by accident though).
