What else are you running in the background? Spyware? kazaa? limewire? did you Alt-Tab out of a game and then run performance check? At work, we have a test system with an Athlon 3200 Venice, 1gig RAM, and 6600GT and we get a 5. Did you install the Vista specific videocard drivers from nVidia rather than let Vista use a native driver? When we did that, the videocard rating went up. The CPU rating is the same as yours though. Are you using a 3200 Athlon 64? Does it have SSE3 instruction set? Also, RAM is DDR400. We don't get the driver performance issue you are having though. We also have last month's build. you might be running an older build.
That isn't his picture, nor his machine, also it's a beta, I dont understand why people are looking so deep into this.
That has to be the first time you're right on something, congratulations And madhatter, my machine is slightly more powerful to that one you have in your work, so it if you say it gets a 5 then mine should get a 5.5 or a 6.
I have some questions first before I could attempt to help you. Is that picture from the machine you are testing this on? If so, there might be other "hidden" programs installed on your PC running at the same time. Did you test this after a Clean Install of the Vista beta? Try running the System Task Manager and checking out what programs are still running.
Um... folks.... the hardware scan feature isn't done yet... don't go by it's scores. Vista runs fine on my 1.1 ghz celeron w/ 256 meg ram and intel 810 mobile graphics chipset with shared memory. (I don't know how it runs on my main laptop, as i don't want to install it on that). Would i run it as my main system righ now? Hell no, but for the same reason i don't do any serious work on microsoft beta hardware/software. EDIT: To complain about individual features right now would be pointless. Just an FYI, neither of the xbox sdk's work in vista/longhorn...
Hey man, it happens was just trying to find someone with vista to talk about a little. Unfortunaty, i made a thread that sank quicker than a block of gold. I was wondering if vista's beta is good enough to use it as an OS, like any others, or if its too unstable right now. What about the programs? Can you install things on it without problems? Can you play games with good results? Or do you have to "hack" your way to get something working properly?
I couldnt get photoshop to work, nor my audio drivers, so that was enough for me. Dont use it as a primary OS, wait at least until the next release with all the features, if not wait until summer
Like i said, i wouldn't use any microsoft pre-release beta for production. Longhorn/Vista just isn't stable enough right now, wait until it ships.
