It's all about price, but then again Sony and their memory cards are ALWAYS over priced.. Remember the 8MB memory card for $60? How stupid. They must of thought people were having sleepless nights over the system. Let's sell this device for $400 or so and people will buy it!

Usually a lot of systems are expensive when they first come out sure, but I think the Vita is just a little too expensive and actually takes the prize. Today's companies should realize consumers go for the cheapest option.

Nintendo 3DS is just better in my eyes, nice compact system, game line up is getting stronger and it's spotpass and streetpass are awesome features.

I can say I love this news.

Kind of ironic tha this thread exists as i remember the 3DS getting bashed pretty hard on here & vita been hyped up like mad.

The vita is a solid piece of hardware however it's too expensive theres very few games worth getting at all from the launch lineup (for my personal gaming preferences), sonys shafting attitude to making you need a memory card instead of been able to save to the game cart itself which nintendo has been doing for decades. With cd/dvd based games it's fair enough that you need a extra memory card to save to, however on carts theres no excuse for it at all.

The 3DS wasn't a great start either, it launched with a pathetic lineup. It was just as pricy. It's taken nearly a year for decent games to come out for it however it's starting to pick up momentum as the good games finally are released. Sony need to learn from nintendo or they are going to struggle, considering theres a recession on nobody is going to want to pay a fortune for a handheld when you could buy a home console for less.

What's the point in this story, it's not even a story.

Console has been out a few weeks.

I'm still getting one once it's affordable down here.

First Sony hardware I get since PS2, also.

Thing is, Sony is ridiculously overpriced for a long while here, and I'm sure this one is going to launch for like 9 or 10 thousand pesos at least.

Fuck that, I'll get it when it hits 250 dollars down here.

The PS3 at $600 was ridiculous

The 3DS at $250 was a fucking scam

The PSV at $250 its a steal! seriously, can anyone point me to a device with those specs selling for that much? in another thread we're talking about this phone with half the specs of the PSV and how its a great deal at just $300

And again, I'm not taking about the memcard, those are a ripoff, and sony is going to regret it.

Kind of a dumb statement, as I've been having a blast with the NES/GBA games I got for free as an early adopter. Not to mention that I put a considerable amount of time into my 3DS between the time I bought it and the price cut.

And you can yap about the specs and this that and the other all you want, the fact is, the PSVita isn't a phone. It's a handheld gaming device, and not many people want to drop $250 on a handheld gaming device, especially in this economy.

The Vita will have to drop in price if Sony wants the thing to sell. It will also have to get some quality software. Right now the 3DS is stomping the Vita in terms of price and quality software, hence why it is selling more.

Dumb statement and yet your comeback is that the 3DS is worth buying for 30-yr old NES games, games you probably already own and therefore could use as a ROM in your PSP, cellphone or tablet....

If the PSV went down to $170, a 50% off like the 3DS it would be sold out in a matter of hours. We're in a recession, people go for the cheap option, $250 its a lot of money for a portable that does gaming and little else, even with games like Uncharted.

Wait for Monster Hunter and you'll see sales go up in japan.

Exactly, which is why the 3DS bombed when it launched.

What? No WAY! A system that has been out for almost a year has better games and sales than a system that has been out for less than a month? Gee, I wonder why...

Both systems are fucking awesome. And so were the PSP and DS, and the GBA back in the day. Saying the other system sucks does not make your purchase more valid or anything.

One system being awesome does not make the other suck. This century sucks so far, but yeah, we got fucking awesome video games, that get even more awesome each year.

No, it was worth buying for me (and for most early adopters) for that reason.

And actually, I don't think I had any of the Ambassador Games readily available when they came out. And now they're on my handheld of choice.

Well, yeah, it was an obvious statement. I was just saying that was one reason the 3DS is selling more, is all. Not saying the current library comparison will necessarily hold up or anything.

I once saw a nintendo gameboy color for around 2000 pesos in a Chedraui store (might have been some other store, right outside of Guadalajara, idr). This was around 2004 and even the gameboy advance was around a while. Later I saw (in a Ley or some other store) a ps2 that was around 2500 pesos... IDK why electronics are so expensive in Mexico... I'll be sending my cousin a ps3 or another 360 in the summer, since his xbox rrod'd.:banghead:

How big are the vita memory cards? I thought they were the size of micro sd's... If they're bigger, then maybe theres hope for better alternatives, like micro sd to vita card adapters...

    I know. I was just being a smart-ass. :)

Like Shadowlayer said, just wait until Monster Hunter gets released. VITA sales will go through the roof, in Japan at least.

Shit if we are going to talk about personal motivations jp. my biggest problem with buying a PSV now is that once you hit 20 you cant use a portable in public without people staring at you anymore.

On the other hand I can pretend I'm doing something else on my phone while I'm actually playing the same game of the portable. Stealth at the cost of POS controls...

    a) it is expensive
    b) it launched during a recession (and it isn't a smartphone or anything)
    c) people are too busy playing monster hunter on the PSP to care
    = no shit it's gonna flop :p

A PS Vita is probably more appealing to me than a 3DS but I have no need nor any money for either... :(

I will admit, it was pretty uncomfortable for me playing my 3DS in the mall while waiting for my car to be fixed.

Got a lot done in SM3DL though...

Dude! I've totally been to that Chedraui - if it's the one I picture, anyway. If it is, it's in a very rich part of the city - right in front of one of the richest neighbourhoods, and like 5 minutes away from my university. Chedraui is the worst fucking supermarket in Mexico. It used to be only in Veracruz, but it became a national chain when they bought all Carrefours in Mexico. If you remember a huge stationery/office supply store next to it, and a cinema really close by, it's that one.

Anywho, electronics are VERY expensive in Mexico in supermarkets like Chedraui and Soriana (though you'll find VERY cheap stuff that they never sold, a few years later in the latter). Walmart is the only affordable supermarket for the stuff. You generally get better prices once the launch hype ends, and not from supermarkets but actual game stores. Still, though, last time I was to Soriana, I saw a GBA SP for 2,000 pesos (pretty much more expensive than a DSi elsewhere). So yeah, fuck that. Hell, a PS2 does cost 2,500 pesos here, even in Walmart. Weird stuff, though, because you can get the games for 150 pesos now (which is like 10 dollars).

I stand by what I said earlier. If the 3DS launched here at 6000 pesos, and it's still at 3500 in some venues, I'm certain the Vita will launch for 9,999 pesos. And nobody will fucking get it from here. It will eventually get to the 3799 (280 dollars?) mark or so, right when the 3DS reaches 2999.

So yeah, I'm importing mine once it comes out and any friend of mine goes stateside.

Last year with 6,000 pesos ( about $440 USD ) you could get a super over priced Nintendo 3DS. This year? A PS Vita Wi-Fi, Mod Nation Racers, 4 Gb Card and a carrying case. I guess if we add american taxes, this ends being about a 100 dollars more than in the US I think. Not bad.

Gamplanet is currently only offering the Vita as a bundle at a reasonable price. I do wonder how much the console alone is going to cost. I dont want any kind of bundle, even if its reasonable priced.

People that said that Nintendo prices their wares here according to import taxes are big fucking liars as you can see.

Get some good FPS's on there and I'll pick one up in a heart beat. I've been wanting a portable machine with dual analogs and online multiplayer for quite some time. :D
