I would say it's because the Xbox 360 has a high compatibility rate with original titles - and until what, 2010 - could still access original Xbox DLC and online play on the 360. Similar to how besides VERY early long box release titles and very limited print runs of games, during the PS2 era PS1 titles were VERY cheap.

    Just a theory.

I think you and I have looked at a different compatibility list. Even still, compatible and working well are two different things entirely hah.

Have you looked at the most recent list? 51% out of all US releases - granted not high but still higher than the ZERO percent the PS3 has with last generation (I'm not counting the first revision of the PS3 since that was removed within a year...)

Out of my entire collection of Xbox game I have ONE that doesn't work on the 360 (Unreal Championship). The rest with little to no issues (frame rate drop, odd texture glitch)

There are tons of Xbox games that don't work on 360 (Gunvalkyrie being one of them), and AFAIK the BC hasn't been updated in years. Besides, the official BC list has games on it that technically work but are glitchy, like MvC2 that you can start up and play, but in practice it's completely unplayable due to all the sprites being garbled.

The official list was 50% of games or something like that? And framerate drops are a big deal, especially for games where it is essentially unplayable at times (I believe KotoR was a big one for this, and sections of JSRF) and there are people who have issues with games on the list still , even relatively big games like Panzer Dragoon Orta in PAL land. Its just no surprise to me that few people actually recommend playing on a 360 if they can help it.

I wouldn't put too much trust into those prices, they might be right but Amazon marketplace sellers usually sell anything that's not readily available in stores at seriously inflated prices.

I love the fact that for a while, you could get MvC2 on the Dreamcast, and a Dreamcast itself for less than some places charged for the PS2 or Xbox releases.

Though from a quick eBay check, it's not even that expensive anymore.

Gamecube did at one stage too, now it's all becoming collectable... XBOX will have it's time soon, many are wanting to go back to it.

Kind of surprised Kakuto Chojin isn't a bit more pricey (since it was recalled and never reissued). I guess because it's a terrible game. Still, get on it!

Probably because so many copies were sold. It was a flop, but probably still sold well over 50k units (at least in the States) before everyone realized it sucked/it was pulled.

How about Shenmue II. It's not uber rare but still very desirable (as an inferior but translated release) for us Sega fans :D

Really? Think it goes for about £20 here in the UK, which is about $30 at current exchange rate. Not steep but it's raised compared to the average XB game. I've honestly not heard of any REALLY rare XB games to be honest. Not to the same extent as systems like the Gamecube, SNES or Megadrive. Maybe XB collecting has been delayed by the backwards compatibility given by the 360, same for the Gamecube with the Wii's backwards compatibility, although that's a system with quite a few rarities now. I think Nintendo are generally much more collectable anyway though. Lots of first party goodness.

Conker is rare? I picked up my copy at EB Games for like $15 used :p Which is good, since it's one the Xbox exclusives I wanted :p

Correct. It can go for $50+ sometimes if not most of the time.

It does in the over priced country "Australia".

The digital re-release of MvC2 on PSN and XBLA caused re-sale prices on the old discs to tank. It use to be that you could get $100+ for a disc based MvC2.

As far as Xbox rarities, that crown is going to go to stand-alone demos. The multi-game magazine cover mounts are easy to find. But the single disc demos, like Unreal Championship or Conker are a lot harder to source, especially in CIB condition.

Hell no. VGA is just stupid. First print Halo goes for barely nothing... Around $5 even without the "Only on XBOX" marking.
