My new holy grail (in addition to BH1.5 and Fear Effect Inferno) is the 2001 (or 2003 to be more accurate) build of Duke Nukem Forever, since we now know it's fully playable.
Are you referring to the claim by 3D Realms that they want to release it but that it's owned by Gearbox? https://www.dsogaming.com/articles/...-was-90-complete-had-rpg-and-horror-elements/
Yes. They have lots of DN3D/ DNF early/late prototypes that they would love to release. But they sadly can't do it because it needs to be financially viable for Randy, so he doesn't give a crap.
Hmm, how long since I put out my list. Twelve Tales Conker's Quest - N64 Shenmue - Saturn Moon - PSX, any early prototype Sonic 1 - Genesis, any early proto One or the other is bound to show up someday....
This is one for me too - if anything to see what it would have been before the world changed and the game turned into a phenomenal swing and miss. I doubt it'd be life changing now, but it'd sure be interesting to look at!
The elusive NBA Jam w/ Michael Jordan, Ken Griffey Jr and Gary Payton. Can't wait for this to show up one day
There might yet be hope for such a thing one day surfacing... NOTE: Jump to 13:17 for the specific comment about this game.
Looks like I somewhat got my wish with the release of the 1997 Spaceworld Pokemon Gold beta that was leaked a few days ago. https://tcrf.net/Proto:Pokémon_Gold_and_Silver
Sorry for the delay, CubeUpload changed its policies and required I create an account. Here it is, a personal grail! The precensored copy!
Very hard to choose, but atm a NES Wizards & Warriors 1 prototype. Other things are just builds/versions of Diablo, Jak, Starcraft etc that contains at least noticeable differences.
I always wanted to play 'Triumph' for the NES ever since Nintendo Power released a small article for it in one of their issues. Due to legal reasons it never came out in the US, though the famicom version existed (Castle Quest). There was a GameBoy version released in Europe as well, but I had always held out hope that a prototype of the NES version would pop up someday.
I really want to play with pre-release builds of really any Rockstar games, especially the Grand Theft Autos. Playstation 2 or Xbox builds of 3, VC, or SA would be pretty amazing to investigate- especially if there are significant map/mission changes. HD-era GTA4 or GTA5 would be really interesting too. Also would be very curious to see the earliest prototypes of Red Dead Redemption. Sadly I believe all of these builds are probably locked away within Rockstar forever! The only thing I have seen are debug builds of GTA:SA for Xbox, and I have no idea who has the build in their possession these days.
Here's my list of unreleased stuff that I'd like to play: Sonic 1 prototypes Streets of Rage prototype Shenmue Saturn prototype Metal Gear Solid PS1 prototypes Puggsy SNES version: Traveller's Tales founder Jon Burton confirmed a few months ago that an SNES version of this game was pretty much completed and ready to ship but ended up being canceled at the last minute due to poor sales of the Genesis/Mega Drive version which sucks because SNES fans missed out on a hidden gem of a game (surprisingly though some of the SNES music ended up being used for the Sega CD/Mega CD version which came out after the SNES version was canceled because the developers didn't have enough time to create brand new CD audio tracks for some of the levels), I'd actually like to try and get in contact with Chris Stanforth who served as the lead programmer behind the SNES versions of Traveller's Tales' releases to see if he'd possibly have anything left from the canceled SNES version but thus far have been unable to find any way to contact him aside from LinkedIn would anybody have a way to contact him and inquire about this game?
I have all kinds of unique video game and computer tech related stuff, but I'd have to say my holy grail would have to be my promotional atari 2600 with box. the Atari is close to my heart since it was my first ever game system.
....Goldeneye HD ....on xbox 360.....what ....wait a minute ?! you can play this N64 Game flawlessly in 1080p on a xbox 360 ?! (it work on xbox one ??!!)
I'd consider F-Zero GX and F-Zero AX prototypes/dev builds as the ultimate holy grail. The retail version already has a lot of leftovers. The course select has 111 slots where only almost 40 are used. Those old trailers have noticeable unused contents like unreleased, tracks, cutscenes, BGM variants and track variants.
