Just bought this to replace my 106 GTi:

    Ford Puma 1.7 16V VCT

55k miles, full years MOT, 6 months tax, 1 elderly owner from new. Not a single spot of rust (which is rare for these).

For a thousand pounds I'd say not too bad if it really is in great shape but aren't they meant to be a bit on the poor side? I've never owned one myself so I'm only going on what I've read.

It's absolutely immaculate. Although it's based on a Fiesta the handling and drive is incredible and they still get around 40mpg. I've been looking for one for a long time but sadly the rear arches tend to rust badly. This one has been owned by someone who has kept it in a garage since new and only used it now and again. 55k in 14 years is quite good going and the cam belt was changed only 1,000 miles ago.

It sailed through the MOT with absolutely no problems at all. Underneath all of the wishbones etc are still black as if they've just come out of the factory and there's no signs of them being replaced.

For £1k (got it for £875 but the tax is £126 for 6 months) I cannot complain and it'll be nice just to have a car that doesn't need anything doing to it for a while. The 106 was fun but has turned into nothing more than a money pit which I did so much work on I've permanently damaged my thumb!! and it still wasn't right.

You may remember about a month or so back I wrote about my car being vandalised. Well, today I returned to that same car park and found these cars!. Yep, Kita Kyushu is the **** hole of Japan but I never expected to see this.

Notice how they're all white too. YAWN! At least these days cars are becoming more colourful here. Most cars here are either white, black or silver/grey.

Anyway, Since I had to visit the head office I needed to park my car so spending twice the amount I decided to park my car in a secure parking space when I noticed this ass hat has driven in to the post! I'd actually seen a woman get her car stuck by driving in to one of these posts :D

Typical Vits (Yaris) driver :( Notice the Impreza beside it :) and mine next to that. The Impreza in Japan is like the Escort was in the UK. Everyone had one at some point. Just as well the scummy chav image isn't stuck to them here.

it's extremely difficult to take UK police officers seriously when they TONNE it on the m6 in SCOOBY's.
    chav image?
i thought the rozzers did a good job at destroying it well enough without the 'staffords and drug dealer' image.
seriously, coppers in subarus, that's one lower than lamborghini driving coppers, all i can do is laugh in their faces and ask driver to floor it...
(ask a copper driving a scooby for ID, and see what happens)

Loads of police use the Subaru Impreza. The Japanese police do as well as Nissan GT-Rs. The Singapore police also use the Impreza. Only the UK with its stupid labels for everything does the Impreza have a scummy image. That is one point about the UK I really dislike. If the scum use it then nobody else can. Same with the chavs and Burberry brand. I have a Burberry wallet but I'm no chav.

burbury? (burnley = football = everybody is a cousin = tetanus shots = drunk tanks = poverty...endless list) :concern:
    hmm?!
i must get abroad, get out of the NW england. (and see what i know of in fresh perspective, anew. unknow the known)
at least it's a flag of warning to avoid those in that style. (it's more than just image here, violent alcoholic way of life, and i've not seen different to the stereotype...yet!)
    ...
now if i was in asia and got pulled in a scoob (i'll call it subaru to their faces, won't get the UK humor otherwise) only natural to respond normally given it's one of the main manufacturers, that's all cool, a standard.
shoe on other foot, if in japan and i see meat with escort mk II, he get's the finger, he's NOT in uniform afaic and should be 'disciplined' to the utmost degree.

The dicks here drive slammed to the floor Toyota crowns or mark IIIs with really stupid camber settings on them. They look like shit too but for some reason the dicks love them.

In fact here is the sort of shit I see EVERYDAY in Kita Kyushu and they're always driven by some punck ass skinny shit with stupid redish blonde hair.

here, this goolge image link will show you 100's of the stupid cars. They are so low that the dicks who drive them can't even go in a straight line because the slightest bump will damage the bottom of the car.

A car that low would get wrecked in seconds on the roads here in Quebec.

Here is a picture of my very first car, not the actual one but it was exactly the same. Caprice chevy 1989 police pack. It departed for the dump about 10 years ago, I still miss that big white badass.

My friend's car is slammed and you feel every single inperfection in the road, and above that he has low profile tires filled with nitrogen which if he ever needs to fill them up he can't at a gas station.

seeing much less of the 'lowriders' over here, a good thing considering some of the wrecks i've seen. (hell, five years ago, a toyota drilled through the front of dual-layered brick house, good quality build, doubt the house occupants gave a toss about that)
but pleased to say, had no run-ins with the drivers.
can appreciate you POV, most of the ones in lowriders don't consider other road users. (UK that is, can't comment for overseas til i'm there in person) the insurance costs are through the roof, so it's difficult for pampered chavs to maintain costs, ergo fewer power cars. (subarus are expensive to insure, add fuel and M.O.T. to that and you won't get many dingles nowadays owning one)
    ...
on some of the images, the wheel configuration, never seen that before, on an angle. (top of wheels tilted inward) can't be that good on the tread?! (and as you pointed out, handling would go down the toilet.)
    [edit]
toyotas too, not cheap at all. (quality demands it) sad a lot are in wrong hands..

Completely agree. Just from a looks point of view, if the wheel arch radius doesn't line up and match the wheel radius you've ruined it. That weird camber thing is starting to take hold over here too. Saw a shitty little Vauxhall Corsa the other day with so much camper and what must have been 50mm spacers that it was almost too wide to be on one side of the road. Was covered in green neons and monster energy drink stickers too.

My next door neighbour drives a 1.1 litre 106 with a full wide arch body kit a badly sprayed black bonnet and for some reason he's welded a monster energy drink can over the exhaust tail pipe. Kids are weird these days.
