You will see it on older vehicles , but unlike eastern Canada, we do not Salt our roads in the west, we use 'soft' gravel , which actually get recycled every year, and only used in the busiest areas that tend to ice over badly. I have had two cars over 15 years old with only minimum rust starting to occur in the fender well. All in how you care for them I suppose.
