This is a disgrace. I have such a short temper I don't think I could have stood there taking pictures whilst she was standing there. Strange how they can afford KFC and obviously have a pretty bad smoking habit yet they can't pay the rent. Priorities!
The best part is the "room with a TV" in one of the early pics, which turns out to be just outside facing a brick wall
First off, she is on drugs. It's plainly obvious once you see her face. I work in the medical equipment sector in Canada so I make many house calls to people to fix their wheelchair and scooters (which are paid for by the government) and a house in this type of conditon is not rare. Probably 1/4 of our clients live like this. It's disgusting. The places stink, things are sticky, and for some reason, they always seem to have a very large, expensive TV. Many people live like this and I cannot understand why. Seeing (and smelling) houses like this have made me keep my own house MUCH cleaner. Oh and for the record, here in Canada, it's damn near impossible to get evicted. You can miss rent for months and still not get kicked out. Also police will not just walk in and remove people unless there's something like a drug bust (of which responsibility can still fall on the Landlord). The laws lean in the tenant's favour much more. My friend once had a place where the people stopped paying rent, so the Landlord turned off heat and electricity and then changed the locks and still, the tenants just broke in through the window and kept on living there. He eventualy had to bring some friends over to break in and scare them out.
Jesus this is terrible. I honestly don't understand how anybody lives like this. I was 2 days late on rent one month because at work our paychecks accidentally got sent to Virginia (I live in Iowa). I immediately went and apologized to the landlord and made sure to mention i would include the late fee on the check. (which looking back now $5/day is a little ridiculous) It really amazes me how people do live like that though. I feel bad if I have a couple cups/pop cans sitting next the the computer.
I saw the newspaper with the name "Examiner" and thought "Holy crap, this is in (my city)!". Turns out "Examiner" as a name for a newspaper is more common than I thought, you're way on the other side of the country.
If there is no power, no heat, no keys for the door, whats the point in braking in again? I would have called the police, say that some tenents want to move in but some squaters are there.
I say spend a day collecting dog poop, bag it and stuff it in some ventilation duct or something. They should be out before the end of the week. Also, cat urine is very smelly and therefore should be effective
I would wait until they are out of the house, probably at night or similar. Maybe send them a notice that there is $50 for them at western union. Once they are gone, screw thick plywood over all he windows and change the door locks.
As much as I would like to kick them out.. Its up to the court now.. As soon as they are addressed if they are in the state to pay, they will obviously lose.
Jesus christ that's bad. Even here in the states you can be kicked out for that (violated fire code). As for why someone would live there even without utilities, well it's better then sleeping on the street. When I worked downtown where I live bums use to steal crap do crazy shit all the time. They would even sneak through receiving and sleep in the bosses office, and yes even crap in there. But they didn't care cause if they went to jail they had a place to stay for the night off the street.
Wow. Why would they just dump a whole load of shit on the lawn like that? I myself am in the position where my landlady is obsessed with cleanliness and raves on if we leave an empty pizza box in the living room or haven't hoovered the stairs. I feel like telling her that our contract states that she should always give us a day's notice before visiting so we can have everything spotless for her, but stuff just goes in one ear and out the other. There was even a fire in the garages underneath our property and I called her up, as I thought she might still has some things in storage there, for her only response to be "How is the housekeeping?".
Dude just be thankful that junkie didnt try to pay you with sex:lol: Anyway, I've been both a landlord and a tenant, and it's never alright. For example I had one house for rent in a really nice neighbourhood and most of the calls where from professionals who wanted a place for business. There was this dentist who not only tried to get the price down to ridiculous levels, he also wanted to tear down half the place and redecorate it in his own way, AT MY EXPENSE, and he even had the nerve to ask for a no-commitment clause were he could bail out from the deal at any moment, leaving me with a half-assed dental clinic. Of course I declined, and almost shot the fucker in the face. As a tenant, I never EVER payed late, nor did break anything (in fact I did some repairs myself) but did the landlords care? not at all. There was this apartment which had a faulty electric installation, and the power would go off at any time, yet the landlord never fixed it. Another one had this nice garage with its own door, but the motor was all messed-up, and one day some fuse burned right after closing the door and my car got stuck inside for 4 fucking days before the landlord got his fat ass to the phone and called some repair company to fix it. All I can say is that in real state you're either a dick or you get dicked over, you may make a meager income from this but most of those who become filthy rich in this business aren't exactly playing by the rules. Fuck, I'm feeling all Malthusian right now:evil: About the bigass TV, this may help
