    PAL Launch:
    N64
    Xbox
    Gamecube
    PS3
    Wii
Wii U, which I made a christmas present to myself, so I didn't play it till Dec. 24th

    Japanese Launch:
Dreamcast, which I had pre-ordered. Shipping took one week though, so I couldn't play it exactly on launch day.

I never had money when I was younger, and my parents were quite poor I always had hand me down cloths and such so I never got any older consoles at launch.

First launch console I ever got was the 360 and I bought it myself, later on wound up red-ringing.

DS has to have been closest in recent years. Unless GBC, GBA, or SP happened, which I've got no clue...

None! There's no use really... I usually pity the fools who do (in my opinion, no offense intended)

The only two systems I bought on launch day were the Wii and the PlayStation 3.

WiiU was my first launch console I bought it simply because I've never done that before. Insufficient money being the main reason in the past.

I've never bought a system on it's launch day. I don't have much money, so I only buy a system when it has games that I really want. That's going to change for the next generation though, considering the 360's RROD fiasco, and so even if the next XBox or PS4 launch with a game(s) that I really want, I'll wait until the console has any reliability problems fixed (which hopefully won't take anywhere near the 4+ years it took the 360).

Grew up poor so all I had was - get this, a SNES with Killer Instinct and ONE controller (2nd port was broke). :p Worked odd jobs for neighbors, going to the shops, collecting their rubbish, paper rounds and so on to make money through 1994. Then bought myself a PlayStation on launch day with Ridge Racer! I practically floated home with elation that day, even more so when I got it opened and found a copy of Jumping Flash had also been put in the bag by mistake. :) Games were like £50 so this was incredible.

I kept working after that even though I'd reached my goal and was able to pick up the N64 at launch and also the Dreamcast too. Couldn't get the PS2 at launch as it sold out and prices were crazy but got one six weeks later when it had calmed down. Never bought any more consoles at launch as the magic just wasn't there anymore. :)

The only system I ever bought on launch day was a Nintendo 64, along with Super Mario 64. Now, I am only interested in retro gaming, so I will likely never buy a new or even moderately current system ever again.

Dreamcast , it was $500 from Japan. Worst decision ever after ps3.... no... there's Jaguar.

    That was the worst one.

PS Vita because I was in the US on launch day and I knew I would save half the amount that the console would cost here in Brazil. I don't regret buying it, I think I use more than my 3DS and have way more games for it (I have 55 US Vita games and 34 3DS games).

One for me, one for Important and another for a friend in France. Getting a Wii day one in japan was easy.

Never got a launch system, though I think my brother bought his GBC at launch (and previously had bought Pokemon Red at launch).

My first DC however was allegedly a launch-day system, but I've never thought to check the authenticity (at least if the MFG date is correct).

I don't think I've ever had "enough money" sitting around to do this. Pretty much all my systems are second-hand, if not bought broken to fix and use myself.

Bought my DS Phat on launch day, don't even think I bought any games for it for a few weeks(just played the MP:H demo over and over).

I wanted to buy the Wii on launch, but wasn't able to find one. Ended up taking 3 months to find one.

N64 was my first launch console, with Mario 64 and Star Wars Shadows of the Empire (which I really enjoyed despite the poor reviews).

My local HMV had 10 consoles for launch day, and opened at midnight. 6 of the 10 turned up then, the following 3 first thing in the morning, me, after school at around 4pm ;)
They said that they thought the person wasn't going to show!

    From then:
Gamecube - Japanese - slightly after launch but pre UK release, from Lik Sang, purple Jap with US switch, with step down, composite, extra pad, Wave Race (Jap) and (delayed) Rogue Squadron, very quickly picked up (Jap) Luigi Mansion too. My most expensive console I reckon!

GBA SP - Midnight launch at my local GAME. HUGE queue, mostly waiting to buy Football Manager! I think I bought the Zelda LTTP port on the same day.

Nintendo DS - slightly after Japanese launch, but pre-UK launch, along with Polarium (Jap) and something else, maybe Feel The Magic?

Xbox 360 with PGR3 and a year live sub.

PSP - ordered online on launch day, and received by day 3, with case and 3 games (Toca race driver, something else, maybe Fifa?)
Kept Toca, sold on 2 of the 3 immediately without playing for cash to buy decent games!
    Eventually trader Toca too..

Wii - picked 2 of these up at launch, one for my other halves little brother, probably should have sold them both on for megabucks at the time then re-bought a few months later ;)

3DS - with Ridge Racer and maybe Mario (if that was that at launch?)

Wii U - premium with Nintendo Land and also Mario.

There was no Mario game available for the 3DS at launch, which was one of the reasons why I waited to get one. Once Super Mario 3D Land was released, I just had to get a 3DS. One of the main reasons why I love that game so much is because my favorite system of all time is the Virtual Boy, and I regard Super Mario 3D Land as a great substitute for the VB Mario Land game that Nintendo never got to finish or release for the Virtual Boy.
