Ah that. I m sure he coded Space Giraffe on some high abstraction layer environment, not assembly, no?

The last game he made, on the Xbox 360? Perish the thought ;)

I'm fairly certain that Tempest 3000, for the Nuon of all things, was coded in assem. The man has skill, if not for original game design.

Agreed. Minter is quite a talented fellow. Trouble is, most of his games end up being Tempest rehashes.

The funniest thing is that when Frogger outsold Space Giraffe, he threw a fit:
Emphasis mine. I'd tell the whiny twat to go write about it on his livejournal, but, um, http://stinkygoat.livejournal.com/115261.html

    The Miyamoto Experience

I have to agree with you on Miyamoto-san. His work transcends across the world. He's a great guy in person, too. I'm glad to have met him a couple times:

This might sound a little strange, but Koji Kondo. Thinking back to all the Nintendo games that I love/have loved, the music is invariably the most prominent constituent of any given memory.

For those that don't know, and I doubt there are many who don't, a quick google turned up a list of the games he's been credited for @ http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,56235

Edited because I'm no good at forums and couldn't work out the link syntax

Ha! Yes, that irony was not lost on me when all that occured. One of the other problems with Minter is that his cult following gives him delusions of grandeur. He is a great programmer but not a great game designer, it would seem.

His older games were pretty much all rehashes, defender rip off Attack of the Mutant Camels for instance. Also Tempest 2000 and Defender 2000 on the Jaguar. I just discovered he worked on a Space Invaders rehash for Live! last year.

Any chance you could show us a bigger picture of that Yoshi's Island signature and mario drawing? :icon_bigg

Frogger is definately more a casual game that even a lot of women play. If you tell some gamer that the most played game in the world is Solitaire then they look at you like you're crazy.

Still Jeff Minter is nicely outspoken, especially when he brought up the OXBM "Journalist / Reviewer" bang to rights when he played Space Giraffe in a short space of time and didn't even get the basic concept of the game. I mean I can't see Miyamoto calling the journalists who reviewed Mario Sunshine a bunch of fuckwits.

Space Giraffe is great, but I can understand the reservations that some have about it. It's a challenging game to visually comprehend, and that's offputting for a lot of people. Their loss.

He should've. One of my favourite games of the last gen.

    Dan Paladin.
A freindly guy who's easy to casually talk to, and he was in the dev team for Castle Crashers.

Or, if it counts, Gabe Newell. For Steam.
