I know one release from a few years back was severly tampered with over a lengthy period of time in order to make it significantly different from any publically available media of it - All to avoid the risk of getting any of those into trouble (even though the build released wasn't even acquired from any of the same sources the available media came from - incredible meassures were taken to ensure it couldn't be by accident or such be linked to any other potential sources of it). Bet those guys are all, somewhere deep inside, very thankful that the game wasn't just "easily thrown into someone's mailbox with instructions to upload it anonymously somewhere" and the release was done tastefully and without putting anyone in harm's way.

Funny how that person deleted their very similar post (did you forget that a post that's quoted before it's deleted can still be seen?) not long after it was brought to attention here :rolleyes-new: Pure coincidence there too, right?

Been a member there for years. Before it was called BetaArchive and I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was an IP match. I could easily get that info, but not going to waste any time.

^ mate, you're entitled to nothing from anybody. Kindly shut the fuck up and wait for a release. You think posting anything here will expedite that process?

What is it about Resi that brings out the conspiracy theories and the loonies?

just like TehStarbuck said capcom dont care about 1.5 its over 15 years old, if anything seeing it downloaded thousands of times might make capcom get off there arse and make a decent re game again for fans

Judging from todays situation id say its simply greed.

There is no proof i can think of that Capcom would care about the material
    getting relesaed.

    It is greed.
People stating the above mentioned argument are just trying to legitimize their
ownership. Capcom did not care about the Resident Evil title for the GBC.
Not to mention all other kinds of transactions that have been made with relation to re betas.
So yes there are people making money with such material. Nobody does intervene. Why bother with that material?

As for this title: It is in favour of Capcom that such material does not get released as it creates
some kind of buzz, mtyh, talk, call it whatever you want.

The reason why such material does not get released is usually money. Somebody has to leak
the material anyway. Pretty much everyone can be bought.

I am rather confident that large amounts of money can change the mind of some person who is holding onto an unreleased game. I know a guy who held onto an unreleased game for 8 years. People begged him to release it, people offered him "large" sums of cash for it, nothing worked. It turned out nobody ever offered him a large enough sum of cash. Once he was offered 5 times what he paid for it, he finally sold it. I agree that begging never works, but money... people listen to money.

    it's quite simple.
someone paid their own money to acquire so whether to release or not is none of our business. period!

like someone said, GREED IS ....... GOOD..

that person can do what he/she likes with it - hide somewhere never to be found, burn it on stake, smash into pieces, throw it as frisbie at the beach, and etc.

Now you're making me wonder what game it was :)

One of the biggest hurdles is even finding the person to contact in order to get to even make an offer. And even if it does take large amounts of cash, most people don't usually feel like satisfying someone so money driven by offering them an absurd amount just to get to play a game. Time and time again lots of protos have gotten out there without having to pay one specific guy who thinks he's the only one with something a ridiculous amount just so he can cash in on his "investment."

One personal example that upsets me is this one game which while I wasn't after, it would have been nice to have. Guy messages me out of the blue just to see if I would be interested, and I was already aware of the sale of this game previously. He had bought the game in a huge lot of other stuff, and the seller was known to do discounts for such huge purchases, so in the end he technically got it a bit cheaper than the price he would have paid if he bought the game on its own. Knowing this, I made mention of knowing how he got it, just to give a hint that I'm not expecting him to try to pull a fast one on me and raise the price absurdly from its price he got it for. Well, you can guess the result. He wanted more than double the original price, which I just did not feel like entitling him to. I'm trying to track a copy elsewhere at the moment.

Of course if I had something I'd want to try to get my moneys worth, but when you're not the one that has the item, naturally, you don't feel like satisfying that shit eating grin you can just imagine is on their face when they think they can get tons of money from you.

I'm sure money speaks, but if someone else comes out of the blue and releases the same thing you have and immediately devalues it when you thought you were going to get to be special forever, you can bet on which side the shit eating grin will be on :)

I'm waiting for all the 1.5 owners to be pissed when the team releases both builds into the wild. They will be pissed. I can see them flooding 1.5 threads with hate towards the team as they felt "cheated" out of their $5,000 investment.

RE4 nonsense is making us think of "those" people now, is it? :)

That's one of the nice things about the team being anonymous, all these people that apparently mail threats for god knows what reason have no way of getting in contact with anyone on the team. I seriously wonder what it is exactly these people say? I'd love to see actual quotes. Like, what can you say that comes off as a valid argument for why you need to listen to them? Are they messaging because they want to make sure they're the only ones with something? Are they hardcore Capcom fans that think they need to act as back seat legal department droids? I just don't get it.

I wish the team would contact me and give me some very exclusive screenshots that have been seen nowhere else, so I could post them pretending I own the game and then just see what kind of messages I get :p

Only themselves to blame. Let's not forget the possibility that dozens of people could have various 1.5 builds. Just because it's so rare and we don't have it doesn't mean there isn't a shit load of people in the world that possibly do have a copy, and could release it whenever they like. Unfortunately, we are just very unlucky no bastard has leaked a copy of it to us yet lol

I really do hope the 80% build does see the light of day. Just think if the team got their hand on that!

I feel like in all the over-analysis through the years, it's a bit underwhelming for the people that waited this long. Especially since it's a game where one single screen is the whole picture, it's not like a 3D game where you can run around more. People have documented and made whole maps of the game over the years, and that definitely must have spoiled something.

I guess I expected more craziness. Not sure what sort, just something. After messing with it for a bit, all I could think to myself was "THIS is what all the threats and chaos has been over?"

I'm happy a build is finally out, but it doesn't mean much to me yet. I've never played the classics Resident Evils (it's true ), so I won't get much out of 1.5 until I do so.

Ha, weird huh? Us humans and our crazy shenanigans....
