There's a small part of me that hopes people like you never get said releases because of your pretty crappy personality and ideas on things.

I don't think you know me. The internet can be a very VERY powerful "thing."

A keyboard alone, is more powerful than any weapon these days.

By a huge coincidence I was browsing for magazine scans and happened upon another forum called Beta Archive, and who shows up but your friend here.

    http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=27021

Guy with a Spyro proto I think is getting the same "greedy" lecture despite the owner being very cooperative and giving good reason why it can't be released. Who's his next victim? :)

A bit late on this but on the subject of anonymity the public libraries over here you can get a guest pass, you don't have to ask for it or show an ID or have a library card. They are little tickets with numbers on them sitting in a basket on the front desk. You could use Tor, upload it to a service and then be done with it.

I like how most fans feel that someone HAS to upload it, at the end of the day they don't owe you jack

I don't really care about the game, I was just saying. In fact, I've seen only one person who is demanding a release, definitely not "most fans" by any means.

I look forward to this generous release, especially cleaned up and brought as a complete build, but personally see this as a gift to the public. I think of patented medications that are held back because of fiscal restraints which as a consequence those in poverty suffer or worse, this is something that merits debate. The idea of someone's personal property, which is what we are discussing, this idea of dragging someone's property and stringing it up in moral consequence seems absurd. There are many variables for why a build might be held back from release, one of which is based on investment. To project moral authority onto someone's personal property reeks of communist zealotry through party members confiscating businesses not showing enough party support. This attitude of instant gratification/entitlement is grotesque.

I was going to mention tor, glad someone else uses it. It's not hard to be anon online you just got to make sure you leave no fingerprints. Linux + proxys + open wifi + spoofed mac is a good start;-)

People like you are a waste. How would you not instantly see that you are also greedy for wanting something that you have no right to own? Your ignorance is baffling. & all those many many people you talk about are also guilty of being greedy to get a taste of RE beta content. Nobody deserves them, not even the people who happened to come upon the disks themselves (unless they are part of the actual development team).

Yeah, the greed argument does still apply. Greedy people that demand these things for themselves and state how it is not right that they don't have it should be kicked to the side and ignored.

I still hope 1.5 never gets released. It would please too many disgusting people.

Now that's putting it a little harsh. Can't let the bad represent every single person interested in something, after all. Definitely not fair. Lots of protos end up with beggars and crap and, well, if all the people that have released protos up to now that could have been lost to history forever had that same mindset that you have, what would we have?

This proto may have a somewhat unique history of its own compared to any other protos, but it still applies. Besides, with it released, a lot of these "disguisting people," which IMO includes those who have taunted and acted like general creeps about showing off how special they are to own it, will then own something everyone else suddenly does. That puts them more in their place I think. As for people who just want to play it so bad they make dumb threats, ignore them. They're not doing squat and they know it anyway.

lol, hello black knight in hiding as a white knight.

As if such a rom is a collector's anyways. Technically it's not the collector's right to own it either with your logic. But I digress, because I don't agree with that. It WAS made by a company. All those people that made it in the company have moved on. And the company doesn't care, is a shadow of its former self. You do realize how much the community has been screwed with over this game? The hype, the anticipation. The screenshots, the trolls, magazines. Hell capcom announced..was it april 1997? That the game WASN'T being remodeled. The cycle being broken will be the best thing ever to happen to the community. Please point at the droves of disgusting people. It's just people curious and sad that the game changed.

Wow, this thread blew up in the last 11 hours since I last posted. Sheesh! I don't see where the problems are, honestly - folks have the materials, and we know that it will eventually be released. For free. And in a playable state. Can't complain about getting something that we didn't have before, right? ...Unless that "something" was an STD or something.

People need to realize that uploading the game online is fine and all if that is the end result of what you want. For most people, all they care about is the quick pleasure, where they boot up the game once or twice and then shelve it. I would imagine that the "Team" operates exactly how I do, playing the long game. Get attention not to show off, but so that more builds (in my case for any game) can be preserved. I could upload almost everything I have now, but that would be the end of the beta train, no more games coming. But by being a decent human being, by talking to the developers as human being, good things happen, leading everyone to benefit in the end. We have to remember that these games were made by actual people, not some miracle workers or gods.

It's funny to see a thread where someone nags about the lack of a release of something that's apparently getting released this year.

Anyway, I think I ranted about it elsewhere before, but there are many reasons for not "releasing/leaking" something. So many that I wouldn't know where to start.

Anyway, even when there are no strings attached, there are good reasons to not releasing something instantly too. Take Resident Evil GBC; the one known cartridge of it was held back for several years (but with quite a lot of media coverage shown through different channels during that period), and I honestly believe that the fact that it was being sat on until the second (different) cart showed up was what enabled both of those carts to get dumped and put into public hands. So, yeah, by not bowing down to the entitlement issues and greed of self-entitled little knobs who've contributed with nothing but ranting on the web about how someone should do "this" to "that," the chance to bring out two different builds, rather than just one, showed up. While there's no saying for sure, I'd say there's a high probability the second cart wouldn't have gotten out - at all - had the first one been dropped into public hands early on. Not to mention how the public donation drive was set to a goal that pretty much wasn't even half of what the first cart was acquired for.

Meaning the public, at best, only paid 1/3 of the total price those two carts cost combined. How's that for a freebie from quite the generous soul? Yet, these types of generous individuals and private collectors have to sit through amazing accusations and insults for not giving even more/everything.
[edit] Just to clarify; No. I'm not saying those who gave you REGBC are the same people now bringing out RE1.5. Just using them as an example of someone who showed great generousity - not for the first time and probably not for the last either - but are still likely targets of hilarious insults and harasment. (Just a matter of time, probably, before "demands" for a 3D scan of the cartridges are "required" to please people too.)

I dont have a clue who that even is.

Yea, i was a BA member at one time, but not anymore. I dont know that person. Just a coincidence.

But anyways on other matters, it is very easy to leak betas and be private.
You can easily mail a burned copy of the game to someones house, and let them leak it for example, just dont leave a return address. Tell them in a letter to leak it to a site and post a link somewhere. Easy.

And again, what good does that do? It gets a single game out there that people will play for 10 minutes and forget about. Just like I said early, I would imagine the so-called Team wants to do more than that, just like I don't put all my efforts into one single game.
