i think its right to say that the wii is the best console all round easy to play back up games very easy to soft mod very easy to install homer brew apps and games very cheap to buy second hand the list goes on and on
Hackability doesn't make a console "best console ever"... It's probably one of the crap systems for usual gamers like most of us here. Motion controls are stupid and faded away within months of the Wii's release, unless you were 6.
I think it's the worst Nintendo console ever. I stopped buying Nintendo games when the Wii released and the studio I work for dropped a lot of projects for Nintendo 'Revolution' because we couldn't make any money on it.
"Best console ever" is entirely a matter of opinion, and I think you'd probably find a lot of people who disagree with you. The Wii has a few pretty good games, but not many outside of first-party releases. I mainly use mine for Gamecube games nowadays. "Hackability" does little to nothing for me personally, and I don't think that's a very good criterion for overall quality of a console. That's like saying a house is really nice because it's easy to break into. Better criteria would be things like: quality/specs of the hardware, quality of games, graphic/sound quality, etc. That's just my opinion, of course.
It can do quite a bit and it's pretty cheap. I'm not a fan of motion controls myself. There are some pretty good games for the system and the ability to play emulators, backwards compatibility all great For a long time I used it to watch avi movies
The first thing you say. easy to play back up games Guess that's why you think its the coolest system ever made.
It has some decent games, and made Nintendo money after people wouldn't buy the GameCube. In my opinion, many yearn for Nintendo's output from the Super Nintendo, N64 or GameCube days but let's face facts, those days left because nobody was putting their hands in their pockets to actually buy the consoles and games.
I do appreciate its ability to play emulators and stuff, but other than that it sucks. It does have a ton of games, but most of them are the definition of "shovelware" and even Nintendo's games took an obvious nosedive in quality from the GC era, plus they went full retarded trying to capture the casual audience with waggling, abandoning a ton of cool franchises from previous consoles. The result? They had 2006's equivalent of Furby or Tickle Me Elmo, but the Wii U's sales show that there was no lasting appeal to Nintendo's momentary popularity outside of the initial fad.
I do appreciate its ability to play emulators and stuff, but other than that it sucks. I should have stopped reading after that.
I don't think it was the best console (that can arguably be the SNES) but I think it was the best kid friendly console
I hate the fact Nintendo of america left out or refuse to release those cool ass japan only titles that captures the hardcore fans & or anime fans that people would have second thoughts of thinking how good the Wii could be instead of all they do is milk shovelware garbage every single day.
Wii is best console ever? Please. My grandma bought 2 to replace dead Gamecubes and guess what? They haven't been turned on since I set them up. Just because a console is easy to hack and has lots of support doesn't make it the best. I feel the Gamecube was better myself. Why? It had actually good controls and decent games. Then there's the factor of console power. In that area even the original Xbox wins because of the processing power it has for homebrew apps and such. That console came out 2001. Wii was 2006 or so. Console that was made from hardware that peaked in the late '90s early 2000s has more potential says something. I will give the Wii this much. I loved the motion controls used for some games. A good one I liked was Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces. Made good use of the motion controls. And then there's the Gamecube backwards compatibility for earlier models. That's another plus. So in the end it boils down to what you're after. Easy to mod console that's small? Wii. Better FPS games and graphics? PS2, Xbox, or something else along those lines.
Even though the Wii is easy to mod its also very easy to brick. You see the Wii Channel loader is pretty fragile. If even one of those channels fails to load then you'll get a black screen at boot up (brick). What that means is if you load in a .Wad Channel file that is corrupted or whatever then that will brick your console. Early Wii models were able to install a boot partition that could save a brick but most of the released systems don't have that feature. Most likely purposefully removed by Nintendo. Its a good console with some good games (Galaxy series) but the wiimote and having to point at the screen to do anything is a real drag. If you like emulators I really recommend a psp which has a much better screen then the Standard Definition output that the Wii generates.
