Definitely the good old snes. It has the lot , its sexy ( the pal one anyway ) the games and playability that will last you forever !
Piracy is bad, especially for the platform holder, the system was cheaply built, overpriced and hardware-wise very conservative and boring. Terrible console imo. Wii U is actually better, though even more cheaply built and still overpriced (not $250 for a gimped Xbox-level in 2006 though.)
I loved the Wii for the most part , take out the motion control and the console would have been great. I mainly stuck to games that didn't require that though as I like to play my games not run around my house chasing a controller.
The Wii was fun for the few titles that I would play with friends and family. Then I discovered emulation, and out went the Wii. I'll never agree on a best console until the stop making consoles. Plus, I have an ever changing opinion about consoles as I age- The Xbox keeps climbing the ranks for me.
The Wii was undoubtedly based on a gimmick (motion controls, they get old after about three seconds), but it actually turned out some decent games, so I have no regrets about buying one. Twilight Princess was a good enough reason. OP's logic is so flawed, it hurts.
should have had more shmups and lightgun style games. hotd 2+3, overkill. ghost squad, dead space extraction are all excellent on it
It did. Don't forget GunBlade/LA Machineguns, Darkside chronicles and Umbrella chronicles. They were also well done on the Wii. Still need to get Deadspace Extraction...
Wii beats Dreamcast in the emulation department. Don't get me wrong it's a great system but DreamSnes never achieved what Snes9x can on Wii and even Gamecube. I still think it's easier to use an SD card than burn multisession selfboot discs with roms. Recently I have seen DC with SD cart adapters too so I guess that makes it easier but yeah...
yeah, i just named a few examples but there still should have been a lot more, i have yet to try the resident evil games on it and mad dog etc, GunBlade/La Machineguns is good. I'll be looking to get the Resident evil games soon. and i also agree it's a great system for emulation, easily accessable USB ports and SD card slot make that really easy, also the control options, eg classic controller/pro, arcade sticks, wii mote, gamecube pad.
Dunno what gamer you are but I'm one that have a good grasp on the library of most systems (old or less old) and there are definitely gems on Wii by Nintendo or third-parties.
But then there are great games on Wii with minimal or no motion controls. Pointer controls (those aren't motion controls) works very well for instance. Also I found interesting the seperation between the stick (nunchuck) and the main buttons (wiimote). About specifically motion controls there are indeed very few games that utilized them in a good way (in part because of the tech itself, in part because many just used the shake motion to simulate a button press). Wii overall is far from being a crap system. Note I'm not saying "wii best concole ever made" either. The first Xbox is surely an underrated system For instance it had some really interesting (and exclusive) japanese games, something that you wouldn't guess at first glance.
I know there is, still doesn't make me like it. In order to play the games I like. Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl I have to use a Gamecube controller. So the original use of the Wii is pretty crappy, it's not even amazing hardware either. That's my opinion of the system, and others have said it's not a great system too. Not sure why you targeted me about it. You don't have to agree with it.
What make you think I was targeting you? I was disagreeing with this sentence "one of the crap systems for usual gamers like most of us here". Nothing personal of course.
