Oh shit, so basically not only are they still together, they've made some of my favorite post-DC Sega games! (Yakuza series, Binary Domain)
Why the hell is everyone assuming that the Wii U is just a teeny bit more powerful than the PS3 and XBOX 360? From what I've seen it's way more powerful than those machines. So it would actually make sense to get some of the ports because they should look better.
TNT & Dynamite I could reel these of all day but we both know your comment was merely trying to instigate conversation. You wont by a product, but instead you'll buy an over priced piece of ugly emulator garbage (atleast one would assume it's just an emulation device considering it's running on Linux)? Riiiight... If you're going to play Neo Geo, do it the right way.
Price seems right considering controller. But it boggles me they are using blu rays(encrypted differently) and talking about how you can use tv services with ease, yet no simple support for watching blu rays. Honestly this not paying licenses fee is ridicules. Microsoft learned their lesson with Xbox 1 why can't Nintendo? Also agree launch line up isn't that strong and the fact that they can't even name all the games at launch is a bit questionable considering how close to release they are. Don't be surprised if the commercials are very apple like from now on.
Pre-Orders are selling out now in the US. Theres also someone on Ebay listing it for $900 who has a pre order in hand http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-Wi...748?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4abc1cf314
Well worth the price. All consoles into one Nintendo console equals the best console until next gen. So smile and buy it you know you will.
I don't get the title to begin with: "WiiU price: more expensive than X360 and PS3" How is this shocking? It's a next generation console... duh. Regardless of if it is more powerful than current gen hardware, you can ask for a higher price because demand is a given and the costs of engineering and production want to be paid. Anyone complained that much about the Wii's $199 at launch? I don't think so, but basically it's a GameCube with a funky remote and GameCube's already sold for $20 used at the time.
I don't see why people are complaining that it won't support Gamecube. Logistically, any company will cut costs by not including certain physical components (in this case, the game ports), as well as aesthetically streamlining the console for the common shmoe. While I don't care about any of this myself and would totally love the BC in my Wii U, the simple truth is that you're all fools for expecting Nintendo to support BC. It's a matter of diminishing returns at this point. Less and less people will trying to play Gamecube games anyway.
kind of agree with this. to be honnest i think it was a very nice gesture of them to add full gamecube support in the original wii, game ports memory card slots etc. and i wouldnt have expected this to happen again.
The WiiU has piss poor specs. In classic Nintendo style they are using several year old chipsets. The next xbox and playstation will wipe the floor with it, just like this generation. And it will continue to get sub-par ports for multiplatform titles and discourage developers from carrying titles directly across. Doesn't mean there can't be good games for it though.
I am still undecided. I don't want to buy a video game console that I will end up not playing within a few months of purchase. Since I bought the Wii, I haven't bought a single game for it and I was just renting games. The last game I rented was Smash bros, and I retired the system after that. I totally regret buying the Wii. Months later, I bought the PS3 slim and the XBOX 360 and I am still very happy with the purchases. I am very unhappy with the Wii U launch window titles. The games that most people really want like Bayonetta 2 is not a Wii U launch release and will release after March 2013! And then there is E3 2013. If Microsoft or Sony releases their new consoles later that year, I am surely not wasting my money on Nintendo hardware.
Here's the question though: How much more of a leap can Microsoft and Sony make over what they did this generation? Will the difference even be that big of a deal? I mean, I look at a game like Skyrim or the Gears of War games or the new Tomb Raider and my view is, "I don't really need or want better graphics than this."
i agree partially. i cant see any further innovation comming from either sony or microsoft, nor any leaps in technology and i can see their consoles being priced higher then the wii u, i have a small but quality game collection for the wii and dont regret buying it, and theres still games i want to play for it. also have an xbox360, dont have a ps3 as nothing on the console has interested me. everyones different i will no doubt get a wii u but probably not on release, N64 is the only console i ever remember getting on release,
They can always make a leap forward. I'm sure a lot of people looked at something like Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo too and thought "wow, graphics will NEVER be better than this!"
$299/$349 is not a "next gen price". PS3 was $599 at launch back in 2006. An inflation-adjusted version of this figure would be a "next-gen price". A new PS3 is what, $249? This is close enough, IMO. $299 for what is basically a slightly tuned-up PS3 with a really fancy controller seems about right to me.
There's definitely room for improvment though. Check out the Formula One games...they look realistic enough, but when you drive out of the pits you get some pretty dramatic dropping in the frame rate department. That's the sort of thing that could really stand to be improved, IMO.
