What a joke! Sure they tried to remind original sonic feeling but it looks very cold, flat and choppy-action for now.

One idea of sonic is to be able to play 100 times the same level without any boring/frustration because each pixel is important and each jump is a pleasure.
I fear it will be again a piece of boring "basic" 3D game.

Bah, its just a small video anyway. Crossing fingers.

I'll admit, my major fear is that while the camera will be 'okay', by looking at the trailer one thing that really bugged me in the SA games will still be there.

What I'm talking about of course is the parts that looked amazing, like the loops and the zig-zigs. The problem is that these were the parts where you could literally put down your controller for a couple seconds. I'm hoping that the game isn't all 'automated' like that. I want to be immersed in the game I don't want to watch it.

I hope for sonics sake its the latter.

    Anyways just another update

They've got a extended trailer up. Plus, it shows off multiplayer, abit which suprisingly looks fun. Like mario party.

Also, it features the main badguy, who does look pretty bad-ass.

I stopped playing (I should say "Liking") Sonic games after Sonic Adventure 2. I have played most of the recent 3D creations of the Blue Hedgehog and I can easily say that they were terrible.

I tried to have fun playing them, but it just didnt work. Sonic Adventure 1 has been the only real fun 3D Sonic The Hedgehog I have played. Now as for Sonic And The Secret Rings, I can only hope for the best.

The Wii is a wonderful System with incredibly fun gameplay mechanics (The Wii-Mote is way better than a controller IMO) and a Sonic game for it could only bring the best... Or so I hope.

I dont plan on buying it before renting, but if it turns out as good as some are saying it will be, then we will see...

Well, thats my 2 cents. :icon_bigg

Well, they said it was better than all the other 3D Sonic crap after the DC games so that must be good.

Sonic Rush brings Sonic back to Mega Drive levels, albeit harder in difficulty!

i m with Taucias on the sonic rush thing. Too bad the dialog makes the game kiddy.

That's always been the case though. Sonic The Hedgehog (the TV show) made that a reality!

IGN rates it a 6.9 with heavy flaws in camera, unresponsive and way too loose controls and sometimes flawed level design, the camera was to be expected as sonic team just don't know what the fuck to do with 3D in games. I'll wait with buying this game until i see it somehwre 2nd hand, i got burned too much on previous 3d sonic games

    Quote from IGN:

Sonic and the Secret Rings is my favorite entry into the franchise since its 2D roots. That's high praise for some, I'm quite certain. Bearing that in mind, if you really liked the Sonic Adventure titles for Dreamcast or GameCube, I think you will find much more to be excited about in this Wii-exclusive undertaking. I can tell you that the experience is more fun and more beautiful than any other – at least, as far as I'm concerned. But that being true, there are still flaws – big ones – and I'm less willing to tolerate and forgive them now that 3D games have fully evolved and we've seen exactly what great developers can do in the third dimension. Sonic Team has taken a giant step in the right direction here, and of that there is little doubt, which is why I hope that more time and attention goes into the camera system and level designs for the inevitable sequel.

I want to take moment to specifically explain the score. For me, Sonic and the Secret Rings offers moments of greatness where I find myself caught up in the intensity of the experience and, oppositely, moments where I want to pull my hair out or throw the Wii remote down because of imprecise control or insulting design choices. I think that some gamers, particularly diehard Sonic fans, will be able to get past these drawbacks and enjoy the great times, which are also in supply. However, for me it's really pretty simple. Call me harsh, but I don't believe you should be forced to deal with the bad to enjoy the good and hence, I've scored the game with that in mind.

Going to pick it up after work (Around 6-7 Central time). I'll give my impressions on it once I play with it for a little while.

I would kill for a (new) badass 2D Sonic game. It's pretty fucked up that developers would rather concentrate on crappy 3D games than developing a gorgeous 2D game that is actually fun.

True, Sonic Rush kicks ass, but the sky level was tuff. The special stages were fun as hell.
