That still does not eliminate his original gripe. Why should good 2D games be relegated to the handhelds only?

I don't agree with that. A 2D game would still look fantastic on a home console. I still play loads of 2D stuff on the TV thanks to the Saturn and even the DC. Handhelds are not main gaming items in my eyes. They are something you do if you have free time while sitting on the train, bus or even toilet.

    Thank you for this :).

I don't like playing 2D games on a handheld for the same reason I don't like playing 3D games on them: they're designed for places you can't take an actual console. Whenever I'm away from my computer or any of my systems, the last thing on my mind is playing videogames.

Given the time and resources, there is no reason why a 2d game cant Look, and ply better thn even the finest 3d games of today.

2d is still the easiest and best way to express your creativity in games

a 2d version of Sonic on a home console, with no use of 3d, sounds very darring and extremely challenging for any group to do.

It's not impossible, but productions costs should be justified by projected sales, and I have no idea what those are for 2d sprite-based games (even if the sprites are essentially riding on plains and a poly-engine behind it all)

No matter how good Sonic Rush has been as a game, the level design is still lacking imo compared to the Mega Drive classics. A certain lack for detail and lack of imagination compared to the old titles.

Let's hear the views of you who got Sonic on Wii, I m very curious myself.
