With all Microsoft's back tracking are we reconsidering the XBOX One?

This time around I'm getting a PS4 first. I've already decided that. But with all the backtracking on XBOX One being made now with Indies being allowed back into the Mix amongst other things. I'm Probably going to get an XBOX One as well...........WHEN THEY REMOVE KINECT.

I might be the only person interested in Ryse. But Sunset Overdrive, Crimson Dragon, D4, Quantam Break are all very interesting to me too so, I'm considering it
after a Kinect removal and $150 price drop.

Anyone else reconsidering?

Nope, the fact they tried to pull a stunt like this in the first place means they've lost my trust.

 

Not for me, but I don't think I'd consider a next-gen console in the first place. If I would, I'd probably go for the PS4.

It was funny to see though how obviously Microsoft was depending on Sony to pull the same shit.

 

The benefits of the drm were pretty good. Microsoft just didnt have any answers for the questions people had - which was the issue and cause of all this IMO.

They should have done discs as they always were and downloads in the "new" way - so people could see how it worked in this gen, then done the switch next gen.

Personally I am quite disappointed you wont be able to share your entire library with friends and family anymore

 

I probably will get an Xbox first, mainly because none of Sony's exclusives really wow me, and I really want to play the new KI.

Plus I'm a bit leery of Sony's push for digital sales. I just can't bring myself to pay $60 for a digital game, because it has none of the overhead of a physical copy (pressing discs/manuals, shipping to store, the retailer's cut, etc) so I don't buy them, and I fear Sony is going to phase out retail discs this generation.

 

It's all about games. Regardless of Microsoft's change of plans on DRM, I'm still not impressed by any games announced at E3, so I'm going to wait and see where the games land & if history is any indicator, it's going to be with PS4, and I won't bother until there's a price drop.

HAHAHAHA YES. I genuinely thought Sony was going to pull the same shit. I wonder if they had a "plan A" & "plan B" ready to go depending on how response was to Microsoft. I feel like Microsoft really could have done a better job by focusing more on the games than how they get distributed...

 

I would if I were ceirtain that they wouldn't try to put those limitations on the console in alternative ways, like eventually blaming third parties for limiting used games, etc.

 

There are rumblings that sometime Next Years a Kinectless model will launch. Nothing rock solid.

Ubi Soft is pulling some Always on shit for it's game. As such I'm no longer going to buy Ubi Soft games.

 

Been onboard since pre-announcement, nothing changed post-E3 when I finally got to see what type of stuff other devs were doing. If anything; I wanted it even more.

I find enjoyment in playing games, not the social status console ownership gives me.

I buy so much crap digital these days out of conveniece, so I was very open to their initial pitch; which was basically "steam + game sharing" made it very appealing to me. Really sad that they changed the system entirely.

 

They are going to remove all that bullshit with a patch. Which means they could patch it back at any given moment, as stupid as this sounds if they were to do it. It's Microsoft we are talking about, this isn't the days of the Xbox. Team has changed for the worse. Of course I want to try the system out before I make any judgements, but next gen doesn't seem to appeal to me just yet.

 

I was going to buy one anyways for Killer Instinct and Crimson Dragon.

 

Those are probably the biggest cases FOR XBOX ONE. Also redemption points for you.
I have no doubt at all that KI is going to absolutely rock.

Now Naughty Dog just has to bring back Way of the Warrior with Playable Drake, Joel and Ellie....

 

Yeah...I'll pick one up eventually more than likely...but I'm going to wait until WELL into it's lifespan before I would even consider that. Their unwillingness to answer straight forward questions and track record for pushing things they don't want is astounding. Not to mention the hardware issues...It'll be a long time for me at least until after they've played all their trap cards.

 

the sharing was limited trials, and AFAIR/C a possible one time transfer / share to 1 person.

not really sharing an entire library.

but anyway regardless, if they backtracked on this now, it's all software, they can patch that shit back with an update down the line once the userbase has been established.

i'd be interested in the console if stripped of kinect and the other bullshit. a stripped down pure game machine would be my preference.

PS4 is my most likely buy but i wont be getting either at launch and i distrust Sony as much as MS with their feature removal.

only 1 person could be playing that game at 1 time. Seems pretty reasonable and awesome to me.

 

That's as it should be as standard anyway. they had no reason to change this other than being snooty / assholes.

Might wanna research if it'll be powerful enough, from what I heard they were fairly underwhelming when they finally came out. I was put off because I wanted to create a small file server and found out there was an issue with the chipset and the lan was quite buggy!
