And what about fiddling with XEX2 binaries to make them compatible with Alpha kits? What is the exact problem anyway ? APIs missing on Alpha kits ?
Things like the kernel and linker were changed rapidly throughout the Alpha development cycle. I highly doubt we could get an alpha kernel to launch an xex2 app that was linked with a more final kernel and SDK. Not to mention that the physical hardware is completely different. XEX2 apps were made to run on a higher clocked triple-core XCPU, not a dual-core G5.
Oh ok that destroys all hope Are there any game prototypes available from the Alpha era apart from Full Auto ?
The wiki states to only look for G5s with 8 RAM slots, not that every G5 has 8 RAM slots. The early-2005 DP 2.0GHz configuration was already confirmed as not compatible. The later memory section is assuming that you have one of the compatible G5s.
Got it, thanks Why it isn't compatible? Btw: LightBlubFun from macrumors did manage to boot a DP 2,7 with xenon.
I've been talking with him and I'm currently looking into it. When I tried with my 2.5GHz DP model it refused to boot. When I swapped a 2.0GHz CPU pair into the machine it ran fine despite the system bus making the CPUs actually run at 2.3GHz. Not entirely sure why the 2.5 configuration wouldn't boot specifically (it booted into OSX so it's not like the cards were dead). I have a new board on the way with the proper system bus speed in order to test further.
I could be wrong but is he using a wireless controller? if so i wonder if he added something inside it And ya thats the DEMO for Kameo for OG xbox
