Because Microsoft were "owed" by Sega probably for the Windows CE also because Project Gothem on the XBOX is basically a follow up to MSR they needed to get rid of any competition. You see the average westerner will go for grafics over anything else however in Japan it's not like that. If MSR did get a Japanese DC release that would give Microsoft one more problem getting people to buy it's console. They needed something that would appeal to the Japanese that other consoles didn't have. Sadly it never worked for them and us poor Japanese DC owners lost out on a smashing title.

MSR was promoted for a Japanese release in Magazines and on Sega's official site but hen came the XBOX and all went quite.:crying: As you know there are many Dreamcast games that ended up on the XBOX. Jet Set Radio future was originally going o be DC as well as House of the Dead 3, ToeJam & Earl 3, Gun Valkyrie, Panzer Dragoon Orta and quite a few others :(

MSR had the worst soundtrack of all time... the game became unplayable because of it. :banghead:

You can tell you're not European. I found the music on it to be very good apart from that country & western shite.

you are? I always thought you were in the states. So why do you think the MSR music is so bad? I know there's a lot of cheesey Brit' Pop in there but stil not that bad to be honest. Or at least Ithink so.

AGREED!!! I thought the soundtrack was part of the charm of the game, and it made you feel as if you weere just driving and listening to the radio, I mean how often do your fave songs come on the radio?? Yo have to listen to some drivel sometimes, and it totally made the experience for me.

Also the music is great in MSR, I liked some of the rock/pop stuff, and I loved the way it changed the radio and music depending on where you were driving.

It really was revolutionary at the time, and I am sure it inpired the GTA games radio theme. Itwas yet another example of sega being ahead of it's time.

Isn't there prototypes of the japanese version of MSR in collectors hand's. My guy who is up to date on prototypes for all systems said the game was complete and ready in it's japanese form, and there are some GDr disks out there with the japanese version, but they went for astronomical prices when they first surfaced, just like the N64 protos that exist.

Also your spot on about the other games being in development for the Dreamcast, if only people had realised the ps2 was gonna be a peice of shite, and Sega had been given a couple of more years to prove how good the dreamcast really was. I mean, look at the games on Dreamcast, the graphics are gorgeus, and I ama massive fan of it's processor and graphics chipset. I always put the Dreamcast in the category of unfilfilled promise, apart from all the great games released for it. Shenmue changed my life, and the graphics in shenmue 2 on the Dreamcast prove how powerful the system was, and what could have been achieved if it was still there once develpers got used to making high end 3d games.

Again though Sega were so far ahead of their time, and advanced game graphics by year's with the Dreamcast, especially techniques like cel shading, and the awesome amount of texture detail in Shenmue one and two. Can you imagine what they could have achieved with the machine by developers in say 2003/2004??? The chipset was up to the task with competing with ps2,xbox, and gamecube, and actually outperformed them in cetain areas.
