I see a jumper for "power select." Will this unit be powered off the Dreamcast, or will it require an external power adapter?

It's powered by the console. However there may be another version with extra scanliner cable for using other VGA sources. So power select jumper lets you choose which power source you want to use, VGA pin 9 or AC adapter.

Off topic but you need to make one for the OGXbox so I can ditch the component to HDMI converter. ( would love scan lines for that console )

Hey Beharius. I'm an owner of the Hanzo. Which was a great product, but I found the cable to the box cumbersome and incredibly fragile in that, if you plug it into the back of the Dreamcast you need at least 8 inches flat clearance behind it (extra for the VGA cable to plug in and not get bent) and as a result the device began to flicker to colours which were wrong.

Will this new Akura have a similar issue or will it be easier to use in terms of where it stands or lays flat etc?

Also regarding the Hanzo, is it normal to notice loads of dots in the picture depending on the colour displaying? Is this an issue with the fact I am using an LED screen or is it just how the picture is meant to look? And will this be an issue in the Akura?

Also how will this work with regards to games supporting the image? Is it purely down to which ever games work with VGA and then its converted to HDMI? Will I still have to take the Akura out if I want to play a game which is entirely VGA incompatible? Skies Of Arcadia PAL or Resident Evil Code Veronica PAL being examples.

Please put me down for a preorder :D

New cables are of 4" long. It shouldn't be bended for proper operation. Probably you need more clearance. In case of any failures, we send new units.
It can be your TV that is displaying those dots since it's upscaling from 480p video.
Some non VGA games are not playable with the Akura, rest can be played by using the VGA switch trick.
    Price to be announced later...

Waiting isn't a problem for me, just let everyone know if you're accepting pre-orders, or are more comfortable having units made first, before they go on sale. I'm okay with whatever you decide. :)

Production will be completed in mid February. So we can start taking orders from February. Now we are keeping a list for ones who are interested, then we will send them an email for taking payments. Rest assured that there won't be any shortage or stock problems...
